Singer Morgan Wade opens up about her friendship with RHOBH star Kyle Richards and the “dumb” romance rumors going around about them.
Two years ago, when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards posted about Morgan Wade‘s music on Instagram, the country singer had no idea who the reality TV star was at the time.
“The only reality television I watched was 90 Day Fiancé, and I had to stop watching because it put me in such a bad mood because I get so irritated at these people,” Morgan tells PEOPLE. “But I had never watched the Real Housewives at all.”
Someone in Morgan’s circle later informed her that Kyle is a reality TV star. The 28-year-old then thanked Kyle for sharing her music on social media, which is how their friendship first blossomed.
As for those rumors that she and Kyle Richards are dating, Morgan flat-out denies the claims.
“We’re friends,” she says. “The Internet’s a dumb place.”
Although Kyle Richards and Morgan Wade come from two different worlds, they quickly discovered they had more in common than they initially thought.
Kyle and Morgan both don’t drink and love to exercise. They also share a bond over breast cancer. Kyle’s mom, Kathy Richards, died of breast cancer in 2002, while Morgan carries the RAD51D gene, which puts one at a higher risk of getting breast cancer. Because of this, Morgan is preparing to undergo a double mastectomy with the support of Kyle.
“She helped me connect with some really good surgeons,” Morgan explains. “We were talking about that, and then she had the idea of us doing a documentary and following all this stuff, so we’ve been out and about. She’s just really been there for me with all that.”
“It’s just been such a great friendship,” she adds. “I know that if Kyle vouches for you, you’re a good person.”
The RHOBH star is also helping Morgan learn how to be comfortable with life in the spotlight.
“She’s extremely smart when it comes to business and how to mentally ignore s—,” Wade said. “The thing about Kyle is people see her on reality television, but I’ve got to meet her outside of that, and I don’t watch the show, so it’s not like I’m seeing this perspective of her. I’ve seen her in real life, and she’s been such a great person to have in my corner to help me navigate stuff. I didn’t have anybody like that, and all this stuff was so new to me.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is reportedly returning to Bravo for season 13 in late 2023. Some reports suggest season 13 will premiere on November 1.
