Dorinda Medley Doesn’t Understand Leah McSweeney’s Lawsuit Against Andy Cohen

Dorinda Medley doesn't understand Leah McSweeney's lawsuit against Andy Cohen.

Like most of the Bravoverse, RHONY alum Dorinda Medley is confused by her former co-star Leah McSweeney’s lawsuit against Andy Cohen.

“I just didn’t understand it at all,” Dorinda Medley told Us Weekly. “I mean, listen, I was there [at Bravo] for six years. … I’ve always worked very well with production in every city. And for me, it was work and I had a lawyer. I read the contract, I signed, I did my work and I left. So, I was very surprised by all that.”

According to Dorinda, in her experience, Real Housewives stars don’t spend much time with their boss and executive producer Andy Cohen beyond the reunion or appearing on Watch What Happens Live or events like BravoCon.

“I don’t really see Andy,” she said. “It’s not like we hung out with Andy. That’s the weird part of it.”

Dorinda, who starred on seasons 7-12 of RHONY, admits that she’s not naive and is “not going to live in a fantasy and say” that working on reality TV is “always perfect.”

However, the 55-year-old says she has “always had a positive ongoing relationship with my production people.”

As AllAboutTRH previously reported, in February, Leah McSweeney filed a lawsuit against Bravo and Andy Cohen for intentionally preying on her alcohol addiction so they could hit the ratings jackpot.

The lawsuit claims that Bravo, Shed Media, and Andy Cohen “discriminated against, tormented,  demoralized, demeaned, harassed and retaliated against Ms. McSweeney because she is a woman with disabilities, such as alcohol use disorder and various mental health disorders, all in the name of selling drama. But being in the business of reality television does not relieve [them] of their obligation to follow employment laws that prohibit the exact type of discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation that Defendants subjected Ms. McSweeney to. Now, Ms. McSweeney  seeks justice.”

In her filing, Leah McSweeney also alleged that Andy Cohen “snorts cocaine” with Housewives.

Andy’s attorneys have denied the Real Housewives of New York alum’s allegations.

Then in March, the WWHL host’s legal team fired off a letter demanding Leah McSweeney retract her “baseless and false.” allegations or face going to court

“We demand that you immediately retract and withdraw all allegations relating to Mr. Cohen’s purported ‘cocaine use,’” the legal letter read.

The letter continued, “Mr. Cohen never used cocaine with any cast member on any Real Housewives or with any other Bravo employee. The absence of any reasonable basis to make such allegations is confirmed by your pleading itself.”

Since then, Leah McSweeney’s legal team has teased that there are more lawsuits coming for both Bravo and Real Housewives executive producer.

“There are more lawsuits coming and there are more people who are going to speak out,” McSweeney’s lawyer, Gary Adelman, said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 12. “It doesn’t matter what people say or think — that Andy’s a good guy, or that you should expect to drink, or that you should expect this behavior.”

“Andy Cohen had his counsel and PR agents write a threatening letter to give to the press is hardly surprising. Mr. Cohen is accustomed to using his power in the media to scare and intimidate people like Ms. McSweeney so that they will not speak out,” the statement read. “Mr. Cohen’s attempt to discredit and intimidate Ms. McSweeney to deter her from engaging in legally protected activity in Court is exactly the type of retaliation that this lawsuit was brought to address and only is further evidence for Ms. McSweeney.”

It is simple. Leah wants easy money!

Total sidenote... So, over Christmas I started re-watching Jersey and went from start to finish. Now I am in season 4 of OC and NYC (kinda fun doing this - all the stuff you forgot that you forgot!!). So, this 4th season of NYC they go to some fashion show or gala of some sort and in the background, you can see Dorinda (who isn't on the show yet) talking to Alex and maybe Jill or Ramona. I busted out laughing because her hair - she looked like she just woke up. It was a train wreck!! Ugh, and that constant reminder of how INSANE Kelly B. was/is. That one. Man, I cannot figure out how she even got on the show in the first place, but she certainly brought NYC some numbers with her psycho behavior. I'm having a lot of fun going back through these old seasons!! Next I want to find the Bethenny show when she has Brynn(sp?) and gets married.

I am currently on Season 7 of NY (most seasons for the first time) and the recent episode is when the slut hypocrite luanne (and/or Ramona) brought a random guy back to the place they were staying for the whole night when the others didn't have their own bedrooms. I'm glad crazy Kelly is not still on because it was too disturbing and annoying to watch her.

Oh yes, I remember that one!! I looked for articles to see if anything ever came out on Kelly's mental health, because something was wrong with her!!

Andy asked her on maybe her first reunion, "How are you? Are you on medication now?" or something like that indicating he realized she had mental illness issues and they still hired her. The way she was behaving and talking, especially that one time, nobody knew whether or not she could become physically aggressive like Brandi has been on every show she's on except Traitors! She was far too disturbing to force other people to work around, IMO. It finally dawned on Bethenny there was no reason to chastise her or try to reason with her because she was mentally out of it. All they could do is treat her with kindness as if she were ill because she was (is).

In the episode I watched last night, she kept shushing Alex & Ramona (in Morocco). I was like, oh my gosh, I would have punched her in the face...shushing them like they were children. Bethenny was super smart when she decided to back down and instead comfort-talk Kelly. She clearly realized it. And Kelly didn't. Ever.

I'm thinking maybe undiagnosed bi-polar? I think she happens to be a mean narcissistic type, also, not unlike some others who choose to get on trashy reality TV, but she is too much. Yes, Bethenny did the right thing. Far from perfect but she added a lot to the show when she wasn't taking over.

This will be an interesting one. Looking at this objectively, the Monday morning quarterback in me sees that perhaps Bravo should have handled this situation better, but did it really rise to the level of discrimination and harassment that she’s claiming? ? No doubt Bravo is a cess pool of degeneracy. If you have a set of working eyeballs and ears, that is indisputable. And no doubt that is (at the LEAST) a perilous environment for someone like Lea. HOWEVER, where does LEA’S personal responsibility fit into the matter? This is a mother and a presumably successful business owner. This is not somebody so far gone that she can no longer care for her child or business. It is not as if from the get go Bravo knew this broad was a ticking time bomb. SHE insisted she could handle her decision to drink, that much I remember. So…????

They are in the exploitation business and she was all in. They aren't liable for anything she claims, other than exploiting a reckless at times, irresponsible woman who is mentally ill and worse than usual if she drinks. That doesn't warrant a lawsuit from her. The last one she was on was UGT and she hardly interacted. She claimed she was sick and didn't drink. She just saw $$$ and being the blamer/victim she is with the emotional maturity of a spoiled, selfish teenager, she jumped on the bandwagon Bethenny started. IMO. Just like a teenager, she succumbed to peer pressure trying to be like the others including living beyond her means. She got enough money from her last lawsuit to start her clothing business so she found another one to pursue.
