Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are jumping into the bar business as they announce their plans to open a new sports bar in Los Angeles.
The Vanderpump Rules alums recently announced that they are following in Lisa Vanderpump‘s footsteps by opening their very own restaurant and bar.
After years of working in the restaurant business, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are opening a sports bar in Los Angeles. No longer will the former SUR staffers be serving crispy chicken or making Pumptinis. Instead, they will be running a family-friendly, neighborhood sports bar that will have a southern twist to it.
“It is going to be called Jax’s Studio City,” Jax Taylor announced on the Thursday, August 3 episode of his and Brittany Cartwright’s When Reality Hits podcast.
“We started construction on Monday, and I am really excited. We are finally going to have a neighborhood sports bar,” the 44-year-old explained.
He continued, “My wife is involved just as much as I am. We have 100 percent say in what is going on, and she is doing the decorating.”
While announcing his and Brittany’s plans to open a sports bar, Jax took the time to address his past comments that owning a bar is a “marriage killer.” Jax Taylor previously shaded his former best friends, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz, after their respective relationships fell apart during the process of opening their bar Schwartz and Sandys.
“The difference between some other people that we know that did a bar without their significant others is that I am involving mine,” Jax quipped.
“It has freaked me out ever since this project came to be a possibility for us,” Brittany admitted. “It is called Jax’s, but it is mine too. And you are not going to be there 24/7. It is going to be kid-friendly during the day.”
Brittany went on to reveal that her grandmother’s signature dish will be a mainstay on their bar’s menu. On top of enjoying Mamaw’s Beer Cheese at the bar, patrons will also be able to take the dish home to enjoy whenever.
“What we are planning on doing is finally having Mamaw’s Beer Cheese on the menu so people can come and pick up their own little tub there. We couldn’t sell it here in California, but now that we have a kitchen, I am going to fly my Mamaw out and have her help with the menu so that it has a lot of southern charm,” Brittany shared.
Jax and Brittany are the latest Vanderpump Rules stars to enter the bar and restaurant business. Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz opened up their own bar, Schwartz and Sandys, in 2022 after going into business with Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd to open up the West Hollywood bar Tom Tom in 2018. Meanwhile, Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are in the process of opening up their sandwich shop, Something About Her.
Vanderpump Rules is returning to Bravo for season 11 in 2024.
