Reputed Mobster John Perna was sentenced on Thursday to two and a half years in prison for assaulting Dina Manzo’s then-boyfriend, now-husband Dave Cantin.
In July 2015, Perna, who the son of reputed Lucchese capo Ralph Perna, roughed up Dave at the request of Dina’s jealous ex-husband Tommy Manzo.
As payment for the attack, Perna reportedly got a huge discount on a wedding reception at the Manzo family’s ritzy Paterson, NJ, restaurant, Brownstone.
“The reception was attended by over 330 guests, many of whom were members of the Lucchese Crime Family,” the statement from Acting US Attorney Rachael Honig said.
Perna is accused of using a slapjack to beat Dave in a Passaic County strip mall parking lot.
The former Real Housewives of New Jersey star and Tommy split in 2012 and finalized their divorce in 2016. At the time of the attack, the two were reportedly on the outs.
Dina, who appeared on the first two seasons of RHONJ, married Dave in 2019 after several years of dating.
Perna will have three years of supervised release after he gets out of prison. He will also have to pay $18,000 in restitution.
Meanwhile, Tommy was recently arrested and charged with robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, and stalking. He is accused of being involved in the 2017 home invasion that left Dina and Dave bound, beaten, and robbed.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey will return to Bravo for season 12 in late 2021 or early 2022.
