Andy Cohen Defends Mauricio Umansky Amid Rick Hilton Drama

Andy Cohen is weighing in on the drama between Mauricio Umasnky and the Hiltons after Paris Hilton slammed Mauricio’s comments about her father on his Netflix show.

The Bravo head honcho defend Mauricio Umansky on his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy, insisting that it was Mauricio’s “story to tell.”

“I’m seeing online a lot of people saying that I or Bravo should be pissed about Mauricio revealing stuff on Netflix on his show,” Andy Cohen said.

“People think, ‘Oh, Bravo should be furious. Why is he saying this on his show?’ Well, it’s his show on Netflix!”

In a preview for an upcoming episode of Buying Beverly Hills, Mauricio Umansky opens up about his fallout with the Hilton family which occurred when he left their Hilton & Hyland real estate company.

In the clip, Mauricio Umansky calls out brother-in-law Rick Hilton for screwing him over in the real estate business.

He explains that his fallout with Rick Hilton stems from his not being made a partner in the latter’s real estate agency, Hyland and Hilton, which ultimately led to him leaving to open his own real estate company, The Agency.

“I think I got kind of f–ked by Hilton & Hyland,” the real estate mogul revealed in a sneak peek of BBH released on Tuesday.

“And when I say f–ked, you know, like, today I’m happy, but there was a hundred agents at Hilton & Hyland. They did a billion dollars for the first time a year. I was 19.6 percent of their production.”

According to Mauricio, he thought he deserved to be made partner due to the success he brought to his brother-in-law’s real estate company.

“I went to Rick, and I said, ‘I’d really like equity, right, and to be a partner,” he explained to several pals and colleagues.

However, Umansky was ultimately told “no” after Rick Hilton spoke with his co-founder Jeff Hyland about making Mauricio a partner.

As a result, the 53-year-old knew he had to leave Hilton & Hyland and create his own real estate company, but before doing so, he ran the idea past his now-estranged wife, Kyle Richards, because he believed it might cause drama within the family.

“’This is really going to cause a lot of stress between you, your sister and your family, and I don’t want to do this move of leaving and starting a company if you’re not comfortable,’” Mauricio recalls telling Kyle, who is Kathy Hilton‘s youngest sister.

After Kyle gave Mauricio Umansky her seal of approval, he created The Agency, in 2011, which has become one of the top real estate agencies in the world and even has its own reality show, Buying Beverly Hills.

The bombshell prompted Paris Hilton to speak out in defense of her dad on social media.

“My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road. He would never speak negatively about his family-especially in the press,” Paris wrote in the comments section of Queens of Bravo’s Instagram account.

“He would never speak negatively about his family- especially in the press,” the 43-year-old star continued. “Frankly we are all sick of him using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show. It is enough already.”

On his SirusXM show, Andy Cohen also revealed that Kathy Hilton and Kyle Richards discussed this bit of long-standing family drama during part three of the RHOBH reunion.

Andy Cohen defends Mauricio Umansky for detailing Rick Hilton drama on Buying Beverly Hills.

“We get Kathy and Kyle’s side of the story tonight on the Beverly Hills reunion,” he shared.

He continued, “There are a lot of people who are saying, I’m seeing online a lot of people saying that I or Bravo should be pissed about Mauricio revealing stuff on Netflix on his show, but I would say a lot of what he’s revealing is his story to tell and a lot and what Kyle is revealing on Beverly Hills is her side of the story.”

“I think that in the case of this Hilton and Highland stuff, I can’t speak for Kyle on any level, but my gut is that there was probably so far she wanted to go on her show because she didn’t want to further complicate an already complicated relationship with her sister,” he added.

So what did Kathy and Kyle have to say about Mauricio and Rick’s business drama?

According to Kathy, Mauricio called Rick on a Thursday to tell him he was leaving Hilton & Hyland the next day. She says Rick asked him not to steal any agents or staff members, noting that Mauricio poached “a few.”

This created a divide between Kathy and Kyle.

As for Kyle, she shut down the conversation, noting that she didn’t want to discuss business.

RHOBH is expected to return to Bravo in late 2024 or early 2025.

I said it when it happened. Mo didn't have to poach the other agents. They ran to work for him.

So, Andy did not defend what Mauricio said. He just defended his right to say it on his Netflix show. (The headline implied the former).

You could tell Kathy hit a nerve with Kyle when she accused Stoned Mo' of poaching some of Rick's top agents when he left their firm. Now that I think about it, I don't think we've ever even seen Kathy (let alone Rick) in the same room with him, and it was a no brainer that he wasn't invited to any of the Hilton weddings.

No, Paris. The Hiltons don't always take the high road. Just watch your mother's behavior at the reunion. Any goodwill she earned from the two seasons on that show went up in smoke in a matter of seconds. Maybe Kathy is the "Biggest Bully in Hollywood" and Rinna is a close second.

Paris tryna act all genteel is BEYOND laughable. ??

Acquiring babies for others to raise must not be enough satisfy her need for attention. However, based on the info given, I don't see a problem with her father and his partner not wanting to make Mauricio a partner...13 years ago!

And there’s nothing wrong with Mauricio deciding to go it alone…13 yrs. ago either. Most people would have in his shoes. ????

He is as ridiculous as his wife.

They are ALL ridiculous, Rick and Kathy most especially. Look at the trash they raised (yes, even the one who married into a family of literal demons) compared to Mo and Kyle’s offspring. IJS. Apple/tree? They may ALL be spoiled brats (probably are), but which set of offspring has repeatedly and publicly confirmed that (and worse) for us? Hint: it ain’t the Umansky brood. ?

Just because I think Mauricio is making himself look like an ass, whether it was one year or 13 years after he didn't get a major promotion, in this one instance based on the info we are given (not even one quote from Rick Hilton) doesn't mean I don't think the Hiltons aren't wealthy trash based on how they put themselves out there. However, I've never seen Rick Hilton on trashy TV or quoted in tabloids. (This is the first time I've seen his photo. What a homely guy.) I think all 3 sisters are kind of pathetic, too and come across disturbed in their quest for attention.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m no Mauricio fan. I do think he should have just kept his trap shut and let his success be his best revenge. That said, I do get why he’s salty. Most people would be in his shoes if they’re honest, but it’s not about how you feel, it’s what you do about it. Did Mo drop the ball there? Yep, ESPECIALLY since he’s better off for it having happened. It comes across as petty after all this time and after all his success even if it’s really not, all things considered, and petty ain’t a good look especially for a grown @ss man. That said, Mo spoke truth, so…meh. ?

Oh, I thought about the book you mentioned, House of Hilton, and looked for it on line. I thought maybe I could get a paperback for a few dollars and put it with other stuff to get free shipping. No way. $$$!!! When I remember I'll get it from the library.

Really?! I read it years ago and I can’t remember the format I bought. I’m going to have to look for it!!! I am cheap AF, so I can’t imagine I paid very much for it. That would be totally out of character for me, so the price must have jumped ????. It sure is juicy and while I concede I may give it too much credit for accuracy (though maybe not ?), it explains SO MUCH about them all, plus it’s gossipy as hell and a great read! ?? Not to mention, it’s telling AF none of them sued over it imo. It ain’t like virtually ALL of them don’t have the money and clout to do so. So… ?
