Kyle Richards is owning it!
The OG Bravoleb issues a statement over her behavior on this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
After clips from Wednesday’s episode of RHOBH made their rounds on social media, Kyle received backlash for her behavior.
Fans took issue with Kyle laughing about Erika Jayne cursing out Garcelle Beauvais’ teenage son, Jax.
Erika told Jax, 14, to “get the f–k out” of his mom’s birthday party. Kyle and her husband Mauricio Umansky came under fire for laughing over the incident and praising this more “relaxed” and “fun” version of Erika.
However, Kyle insists viewers don’t have the full context.
“I didn’t even see Erika say that, I was told the next day,” Kyle told the U.K.’s Metro. “I was laughing at a friend’s drunken behavior as one does sometimes. Nothing to do with disrespecting anyone’s child, especially.”
She continued, “I’m a mom of four daughters. I think if I had obviously seen it — because I only saw it actually last night on Instagram, that clip — I would have a different reaction. But when you hear a story like that, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God!’ I laugh sometimes at the wrong moments, but it wasn’t about Garcelle and her son, it was about Erika.”
Kyle asserted that she wasn’t used to seeing that kind of behavior from the Pretty Mess singer.
“You hear a story the next day, ‘Oh, my God, so and so was so drunk, they did this and that,’ and we laughed, it was like that,” she added. “To think that someone misinterpreted it as that, that I didn’t care and being flippant about someone’s child … I would hope that after 12 years on this show [that] people know me better.”
The RHOBH OG also received backlash for her disbelief over Sutton Stracke claiming she had two miscarriages while trying to connect with newbie Diana Jenkins after their fight at Garcelle’s party.
“You’ve lost two babies? I’ve never heard this before,” Kyle said. “I love you, but this feels like bulls—t. … You’re going to say you lost two babies? Out of the blue, you say that. We don’t know that!”
“That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever said to me in my entire life,” she told Kyle while insisting she was trying to “reach” Diana on a “human-level.”
Kyle addressed her eyebrow-raising comments towards Sutton in a statement on Instagram.
“When Diana [Jenkins] was sharing her story about having a miscarriage I was taken aback because I felt like Sutton wasn’t letting Diana have her moment to share what she had just recently gone through,” Kyle wrote on Tuesday, July 5. “I had obviously had a few drinks and didn’t express myself clearly & I was disappointed in the way I handled myself altogether.”
She continued, “When I woke up the next morning I thought about what happened the night before and I realized that maybe Sutton was sharing her story with Diana to connect with her in some way. I immediately called Sutton and apologized to her.”
Kyle added that she considers Sutton “a close friend” and that she didn’t mean to hurt her.
“Sutton accepted my apology and we moved on,” she concluded.
The mom of four went on to further explain her reaction to Erika disrespecting Garcelle’s son.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on Bravo.
