Meghan King is getting real about her short-lived marriage to ex-husband Cuffe Biden Ownes. The former reality TV star is also dishing on the likelihood of her returning to the Real Housewives of Orange County.
During an appearance on former RHOC costar Tamra Judge’s podcast Two T’s in a Pod, Meghan revealed she’s dating again just two months after ending her marriage.
“I’m going on dates and stuff,” Meghan revealed. “I was married, but it was such a whirlwind, and from start to finish with him was only three months, which was just stupid of me to marry him, but I did.”
Meghan and Cuffe tied the knot in October 2021 just weeks after going Instagram official with their relationship. It’s unclear when the two met and began dating.
However, by December 2021, their marriage was over.
“It doesn’t feel like a marriage, it feels like a three-month dating relationship that was an abrupt start and an abrupt end,” she noted.
To better understand the split, Meghan is having open and honest conversations with her therapist.
“I’m talking to my therapist about it, and she’s like, ‘Meg, you’re fine. It seems like it should be serious because you put the title “marriage” on it, but it wasn’t,’” she confessed. “I learned a lesson, and it’s time to move on. I think about it as a memory, and I’m sad it didn’t work out, I had hopes for it … but it’s fine. It literally feels like a nostalgic memory.”
The former RHOC star also reveals that she has “no rules” when it comes to introducing her kids to her romantic partners and insists her quickie marriage to Cuffe had no “deep impact” on her children, Aspen, 5, and twin sons Hart and Hayes, 3.
“They’ve only met two,” Meghan told Us Weekly exclusively of her kids meeting her partners. “They’ve only met Christian [Schauf], who I dated in Park City, [Utah]. I dated him for a while and he was my first boyfriend [after splitting from Jim Edmonds in 2019]. That was a lot of fun.”
As for Cuffe, Meghan says, “I was married to [him] and he lived with me and obviously they had to meet him. But that was a quick relationship, so I don’t think either person made any kind of deep impact on their lives.”
When it comes to Meghan’s future dating plans, she’s not looking for anything “serious” but is occasionally using dating apps.
“I’m on Raya every now and then. I usually deactivate it because it’s annoying, but … I get set up. I’m not focusing on dating. It’s just fun if it’s there. … It’s not a big deal,” she explains, adding that she’s looking for someone with “financial stability” and “flexibility in his work schedule.”
“I’m just looking for somebody who has a similar lifestyle. I would prefer someone with children this time. I thought I didn’t before, but now I do,” she notes.
Meanwhile, Meghan also reveals that she was in the running to return to RHOC for season 16 however before revealing the details, former OC Housewife insisted that she “quit” the show back in 2017.
“I actually did quit. I quit because I was pregnant with the twins and that’s for real, that’s not embellished. Not to say I wouldn’t have gotten fired [eventually] anyways,” she explained.
“I wanted to go back on last year and went through the whole casting process and I didn’t get it,” she confessed. “Now that feels like I got kicked out.”
She added, “I miss getting dressed up, doing cool things, and having your life planned for you – that was fun.”
