Karen Huger, the self-proclaimed ‘Grande Dame of Potomac,’ is always entertaining on The Real Housewives of Potomac. This season her relationship with her husband, Ray Huger, has really gotten the spotlight. Karen famously said that she is married to the, “Black Bill Gates.” This led many to wonder if Beyonce was referring to this in her “Formation” song lyrics, “You just might be a black Bill Gates in the making.” This season Ray’s tax situation, the couple’s move to Great Falls, Virginia, and Karen not wearing her wedding ring during the all girls trip to Cannes, France has made the RHOP ladies curious about the status of Karen’s marriage. The Bravo beauty has been keeping it together on the show, and she claimed that she doesn’t wear her wedding ring when she travels abroad. This is something that fellow Real Housewives star, Kenya Moore, shares in common with Karen. The two later got into a Twitter scuffle, though.
It seems that Karen’s marriage is in tact. According to her co-star, Monique Samuels, they are stronger than ever. Monique recently shared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, “Karen and Ray are rock solid. When you see them two together, it’s like they can’t keep their hands off each other, and I don’t care to hear the details that Karen likes to give. But no, they’re not heading for divorce. They’re nowhere near that.” Karen is never thrilled with people getting in her business on the show.
Karen did reveal to the RHOP ladies earlier this season that Ray had once asked her for a divorce “a long time ago.” She said, “Many moons ago, I was determined to hold onto my independence but still be Mrs. Huger, come and go as I please, do as I want. He felt lonely. So I had to really strike a balance to get us through that patch.”
Karen told The Daily Dish, “I love living my life in grace and quite often, you’re gonna come under fire. How you respond under fire is up to you. I just decided to have some dignity about it, support my husband, soldier up and just stand by my man.” This was when her husband’s bad tax situation came under scrutiny. However; Karen is sticking by her husband’s side – despite the tough situations. She explained, “You’ve just got to have a lot of faith and faith in your man. If you’ve been with him for 20 years, and he tells you to mind your business, stay in your lane, continue to live your life, be the best you you can be, because that’s gonna help him focus on fixing the issue. Trust your husband. Trust your husband far and beyond your girlfriends. Trust your husband. And I’m glad I did that.”
I agree that you have to stand by your man! I don’t think that Karen is headed for divorce. Every marriage goes through ups and downs. I agree with Monique, and I think they are far from the direction of divorce. I love watching the ladies of the RHOP. They are so entertaining!
