Monica Garcia Says It Wasn’t Her Decision to Leave RHOSLC and Reveals Why She Didn’t Apologize at the Reunion

Monica Garcia reveals she didn’t want to leave RHOSLC and explains why she didn’t apologize to her co-stars at the season 4 reunion.

The 40-year-old RHOSLC star told The Cut that she did NOT make the decision to exit the show following season 4.

“That would a cast and Bravo decision,” Monica Garcia told the outlet. “It would not have been my decision.”

On Tuesday, just hours before the finale part of the RHOSLC season 4 reunion aired on Bravo, multiple sources confirmed that Monica would NOT be joining co-stars Heather GayMeredith MarksLisa BarlowWhitney Rose, and Angie Katsanevas when cameras pick back up for season 5 of RHOSLC next month.

RHOSLC showrunner Lori Gordon also told Variety on Tuesday that fans should “never say never” to Monica’s possible return to RHOSLC in the future.

“The women just need a cooling-off period, and I think it’s just too soon,” Gordon said. “They’ve articulated it. It’s too soon for them to reenter into a friendship — a trusting friendship. Not enough time has passed.”

A source later confirmed to PEOPLE that the door is not fully closed on Monica’s roll on RHOSLC and notes that she could “make a return down the lin.”

“This is a show about friendships, and ultimately, if you don’t have a friendship with anyone else on the cast, it’s hard to have you there,” the insider said. “If the women can find it in their hearts to forgive Monica one day, then it would be only natural to see her there. But right now, there’s no resolution.”

Meanwhile, during her chat with The Cut, Monica also explained her lack of apology at the season 4 reunion.

“So this is the thing,” she explained. “I am sorry that I ever involved myself in this account and that I got myself in this situation. The reason why I did not apologize is because I am not going to give a fake apology.”

She continued, “At that moment, I did not have it in me to apologize, because the women were relentless. I felt like they still weren’t willing to hear me.”

Monica notes that it was hypocrisy that kept her from apologizing.

“Heather lied to their faces, lied to production, lied to investigators, lied to producers, lied to Andy Cohen, lied to the fans for over a year. She has existing relationships with these people – but I am being completely massacred.”

The 40-year-old also claims she didn’t want to perform for the cameras.

“You want me to apologize in that moment? I couldn’t do that. I didn’t have it in me to give a half-ass apology because it’s what people wanted to hear, because it would make me look better in the moment.”

“I want to get to a place where I can actually sit down and have civil conversation about this and give a genuine apology. But at the reunion, on that stage, in the situation I was in, it would not have been a real apology, so why even say it?”

RHOSLC will return for season 5 in late 2024.
