RHOC: Vicki Gunvalson Hasn’t Received S18 Contract BUT ‘Deserves’ To Be Full-Time

The OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson, hasn’t received a contract for season 18 of RHOC but believes she deserves to be a full-time Housewife again.

Vicki Gunvalson hasn’t received the call to return for season 18 of RHOC.

“I went on as good faith thinking I would show the network that I love them, I love filming, my value. But if I go back [as a ‘friend’], it looks thirsty,” she told Page Six.

The OG of the OC hasn’t received a contract for season 18 of the Real Housewives of Orange County and says she won’t return to the franchise as a friend of the Housewives or a guest.

Vicki noted she had a “good journey” as a Housewife during her thirteen-year run on RHOC but sniped, “I don’t understand what they’re doing.” 

While Bravo hasn’t announced any casting news for season 18, the 61-year-old insists “all the calls were done last week.”

Meanwhile, Vicki also believes she “deserves” to be a full-time Housewife on RHOC once again.

“I deserve full-time,” Vicki shared with The Messenger. “I’m not going to be a has-been. I started this whole thing. I’m good TV. I got to teach them how to do it.”

While Vicki would like to return to RHOC in a larger capacity after appearing as a guest during season 17, ultimately, she’s content with whatever Bravo decides.

“I’m good either way,” she said. “I’m working on some other projects, and truly, if Real Housewives of Orange County doesn’t want me, I’m a free agent. I’m good.”

Vicki starred on RHOC since the show’s inception in 2006 up until season 13. She was then demoted to a friend for season 14 before being let go from the franchise altogether in January 2020 ahead of season 15.

Two years later, Vicki returned to RHOC unofficially as a guest during season 17 amid Tamra Judge’s full-time return to the show.

RHOC will return for season 18 in 2024.

I don't see Laurie ever coming back, but I am totally down with Kelly coming back to torture Heather. I would get back to the basics; Vicki, Tamra, Heather, Shannon, Kelly, and Alexis ... hell ANYTHING would be an improvement.

That would work. I was just making fun of Bravo’s sadistic side. If they brought back one ditzy broad to drive ol’ Shannon the ding bat over the edge, why not get all the hens screeching while we’re at it? ?

Personally, I think the problem with ALL the franchises are the production companies. They need to get rid of Evolution and get back to Ricochet and/or Shed Entertainment. Of course Asswipe Cohen needs to go too.

Yep, I think you nailed it. It’s like that saying, ‘Money talks, but wealth whispers’. It’s not a perfect analogy but what I’m trying to say is production’s sticky, messy fingerprints don’t have to be visibly marring every franchise, storyline and incident so very blatantly while they claim otherwise. We know that the genre requires a little ‘orchestrating’. We are willing to overlook it TO A DEGREE as long as it ‘whispers’, i.e., is subtle. Otherwise, feck off with your insultingly obvious fakery! ?

As we all know, VG has been making these claims/threats that she won't be a "friend of" for years, but she always ends up showing up. The truth is, being a "HW" has always been more about the platform and maintaining "relevance" (than the $alary per se). Also, let's be real; Vicki's last few appearances added nothing to the show, so I'm guessing her time with the show is done.

Vicki's problem is that she's her own worst enemy. Speaking to the press has done her no favors, and she's made it clear that she's not friends with any of these women (even her friendship with Tamra and Shannon is strictly business), so it really wouldn't even make sense for her to be on the show. But of course, this is the problem that plagues the entire HW series, so what do I know?

If Vicki wants back on the show as a full time HW, she has to not run back when Bravo calls for those guest appearances (but they don’t pay) to add drama, life into episodes when things are going slow with filming. If she keeps helping Bravo out for free, they will never hire her. I also 100% believe behind the scenes Tamra is betraying Vicki and telling Bravo not to hire Vicki back- Tamra doesn’t want to share the spotlight with Vicki. Three points on hiring, why is Bravo letting Tamra help with casting (crazy) the current update, why do Shannon and Vicki think Tamra is their friend still, and why does Bravo think Tamra helped the OC show this year when ratings barely moved and it was Jenn and Heather who helped actually, not Tamra. Fans want Tamra out!
