RHOSLC newbie Monica Garcia reveals she was excommunicated from the Mormon Church after having an 18-month affair with her brother-in-law.
On Tuesday’s episode of RHOSLC, Monica Garcia opened up to co-star Heather Gay about her upbringing in the Mormon Church.
During a shopping trip, Monica revealed to Heather that she is “kind of” Mormom. Naturally, Heather’s interest was piqued, so she peppered Monica for more details.
“Were you raised Mormon?” Heather asked, to which Monica replied, “Kind of.”
Heather followed up: “Is there such a thing?”
“I’m raising my girls in the church,” Monica said, causing Heather to pry for more clarification. Heather asked: “Wait, are you Mormon?”
“My mom converted to the church. So, I was pretty much raised in the church,” the RHOSLC newbie explained. This news surprised Heather, who noted: “I had no idea you were Mormon.”
Monica then dropped a bombshell on Heather.
“I was married in the temple, and then I was excommunicated for f–king my brother-in-law for 18 months,” Monica confessed.
This revelation left Heather speechless and weak in the knees. After collecting herself, Heather asked: “Your husband’s brother?”
Monica clarified, “So, my husband’s sister, her husband.” She explains that she eventually confessed the affair to her bishop because she “felt guilty.”
Afterwards Monica says she was “shunned from everything and everyone.”
“Genuinely and truly one of the worst experiences of my life,” she told Heather.
