Albie Manzo has his mom’s back.
In a special episode of his Dear Albie podcast, Albie dives into the recent family drama between his mom, Caroline Manzo, and his estranged Aunt Dina Manzo.
Albie defended his mom’s decision to write a letter of support for her brother-in-law, Tommy Manzo, amid his May 11 arrest that left him charged with robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, and stalking.
Tommy, who was previously married to Dina, has been linked to two attacks involving his ex-wife and her current husband, Dave Cantin. He has been accused of hiring reputed Lucchese crime family associate John Perna to beat Dave outside a strip mall in 2015. The younger Manzo brother was also reportedly involved in the 2017 home invasion that left Dina and Dave bound, beaten, and robbed.
“[My mom] made a choice that she knew going in was going to be extraordinarily unpopular, [that] could’ve been easily twisted into something that it isn’t, but she made it anyway,” Albie said. “Because she felt it was the right thing to do.”
“My mother wrote a letter based on the character as we know him,” he continued. “The facts as we’ve seen them, as we know him in his life. Is he a threat to society? The answer is no. We believe the answer is no.”
Albie explained that while his family is estranged from Dina, they still believe whoever is behind the attacks on Dina deserves to be in jail.
“This isn’t about family drama,” he said. “This is a ‘right and wrong’ situation.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey will return to Bravo for season 12 in late 2021 or early 2022.
