Real Housewives of New Jersey star Joe Giudice is set to report to prison tomorrow March 23 to begin his 41-month prison sentence and while many would be nervous, the reality star seems surprisingly chill about heading to prison.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Joe reveals that going to prison is “not a big deal. They tell me that the low security and the camp there are almost the same, so it’s no big deal.”
Joe was sentenced back in October 2014 to serve 41-months at the Federal Correction Institute in Fort Dix, New Jersey for fraud charges.
While Joe is losing his freedom, he doesn’t think his time behind bars will be that bad.
“It’s a military camp is what it is. It’s not a high security, and anybody that’s in there is basically people that have already served a lot of time basically working their years to get out. So once you are there if you screw up there, then you go back to high security.”
As Joe prepares for prison he’s staying positive about the outcome of spending time behind bars.
“I’m looking at it like rehabilitation for me. I am not going to be able to drink for a while which is good because I don’t even know when it’s been since I haven’t had a drink. It’s been a long time. Definitely, the whole year I definitely drank every day a couple of bottles at night just to go to bed.”
It’s amazing that Joe can be so relaxed about going to prison, but I think he knows he has no other choice but to accept it and move on. While I know Joe committed a crime I feel terrible for his daugthers and him; 4 years is a long time to be away from your kids. I have no doubt the Giudice’s will come out from this ordeal better than ever.
Are you surprised Joe is so calm about going to prison? Do you think prison will be good for Joe?
