While Teresa Giudice plead guilty to a long list of charges including bank and wire fraud many have questioned her complicity in the actions that led her to a 15-month prison sentence. It may be that because of Teresa’s celebrity she became a target that affected the charges and sentencing.

According to People the lawyer, Jim Kridel, who represented the Giudice’s in their 2010 Bankruptcy case that it’s completely possible that Teresa may have commitment the crimes unknowingly.

Kridel stated “I did not believe that Teresa was all that knowledgeable about any of the finances of her family until ultimately she became the breadwinner,”

Even Teresa wasn’t 100% sure of what she was guilty of which she admitted to during her interview with Andy Cohen. “I mean this was a long time ago,Whatever Joe told me to sign, I signed.”

“Everyone seems to blame her that she knew or should have known. I don’t find that to be true in real life, though,” Kridel explained “People come in and sign tax returns quite often, and the spouse who is not in charge of the finances has no information. They just do what the accountant tells them.”

Teresa knows she made a mistake not knowing what she was signing and admitted that she needs to understand her finances better and pay more attention to what she signs.

I think it’s completely possible that Teresa wasn’t aware of what she was signing until it was too late. Joe being the main breadwinner until Teresa started on RHONJ makes it very likely that Teresa was blissfully unaware of their financial state. I think Teresa put all her trust in Joe to handle the finances and unfortunately he make some detrimental mistakes.

Do you think Teresa could have committed these crimes without knowing it? Do you think Teresa has learned from this mistake?
