RHONY star Erin Lichy finally addresses the truth behind her past donations to Donald Trump and reveals her real political standpoint.
After weeks of the social media rumor mill churning out all of these hypothetical claims about RHONY star Erin Lichy‘s political beliefs, the real estate agent and interior designer is tackling all the gossip head-on while appearing on Amanda Hisch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
Host Amanda Hirsch, who oddly enough went to high school with Erin, addresses the controversy surrounding the RHONY star’s recently uncovered political donations to Donald Trump in 2020.
“I wanna talk to you about something that came up. You know, people love the franchise. We’re so excited about the new cast. Everybody Googles, and everybody finds every fricking last thing about them. And some stuff was found out about you donating to Trump’s campaign [on] Reddit. I saw a statement you put out,” Hirsch stated before asking, “How about you tell us your thoughts about that?”
First and foremost, Erin insists she is not an election denier. She also was emphatically clear that she is pro-choice and not pro-life.
“First of all, I never did, nor do I support Stop the Steal or anything like that. There was some confusion around what happened with the donations, and there’s a lot of articles about it. But I’m not gonna get into that. Honestly, I wanna talk about this here, and I’ll talk about it with you, and [then] I really don’t want to ever talk about it again. ’cause it was really a hard week for me. I was an early-on supporter. I thought he was gonna be really good for Israel,” the RHONY star explained.
The RHONY star continued, “As things evolved, my views changed, and I think I’m allowed that right. You know, people’s views changed. I went to an extremely liberal school. My mother literally campaigned for Biden. I think I made a mistake. I made a bad judgment call, and the hardest thing for me was people assuming that I’m pro-life. Like I am so pro-choice, and Planned Parenthood saved my life in college. And I have no problem telling people the story of me going to Planned Parenthood in college. And I’m such a big supporter of the LGBTQ community, and that’s what hurts me. I’m the most open, most liberal, most welcoming person, and it like hurts my soul that people put me in that category.”
As AllAboutTRH previously reported, the Federal Election Commission database shows that the RHONY star donated four times to WinRed, which is the Republican Party’s Political Action Committee for fundraising, in the days after the November 3, 2020 election.
Erin donated $100 on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6. Both donations were not allocated to go into any specific fund. However, the RHONY stars $100 donations on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 were designated for the “Trump Make America Great Again Committee.”
While the RHONY star still seems unwilling to explain her donations, something tells me this topic will be tackled at the season 14 reunion – you know Andy Cohen’s going to pepper Erin about it.
