Raquel Leviss‘ mom is explaining how Vanderpup Graham wound up in the shelter while denying that their family simply tossed him away.

Raquel Leviss’ mom is speaking out about why her family had no choice but to surrender Graham after he bit her “to the bone.”

“Rachel put Graham into behavior classes after breaking up with James because he had bitten several people. When Rachel went into the mental health facility, she asked us to care for Graham as we have many times before. While caring for him, he bit me to the bone, causing severe damage. I saw two doctors for the wound that suggested he be euthanized, which we absolutely declined, and sought out the best rehabilitation center, California Doodle Rescue, that gave him a trainer with over 40 years of experience,” the Vanderpump Rules star’s mom, Laura Leviss, tells Entertainment Tonight.

“After discussing with Rachel, we made the tough decision to drive Graham on May 20 to California Doodle Rescue so that he wasn’t alone and delivered him directly to the trainer’s home with a tearful goodbye,” Laura added of her and Raquel’s decision to get Graham help and ultimately have him rehomed afterward.

She continues, “While with the trainer, Graham bit both her and her husband. They still worked with him more to get him to a place where he could be adopted. He was placed with a new owner and was returned within three days after also biting her. The rescue then reached out to Lisa Vanderpump for financial assistance to hire a different trainer. Lisa offered to adopt Graham and he was picked up by Vanderpump Dogs Rescue on July 13. California Doodle Rescue was told that Vanderpump Dogs would either rehabilitate him and place him in a good home, or he could live on her property until his dying day. My daughter nor I ever dumped Graham and want nothing but the best for him.”

As AllAboutTRH previously reported, Graham was eventually reunited with his dad, James Kennedy.

On Thursday, James Kennedy posted several photos with Graham and girlfriend Ally Lewber, in Lake Tahoe, on his Instagram, writing:

“Look who made his way back home, back into my life. I’ll take care of you forever, and I love you.”

Upon James’ Instagram post, TMZ reported that Graham was dropped off at a shelter due to behavioral issues, including a biting problem. Lisa Vanderpump‘s dog foundation, Vanderpump Dogs, was altered and worked on reuniting Graham with James.

James currently has Graham in dog training classes, and they seem to helping him. Raquel has yet to comment on how or why Graham ended up in a shelter.

Raquel and James adopted Graham in 2018; however, when the two split in 2021, Raquel took full custody of the pup.

Since April, Raquel has been seeking treatment for her mental health, so there has been speculation that Graham has been living with the former pageant queen’s family.

Raquel exited treatment last week and has been spotted out and about in Tucson, AZ. Raquel has yet to publicly comment on the drama that led to Graham being reunited with James. Stay tuned for more on this developing story as more details emerge.

Vanderpump Rules will return to Bravo in 2024.

I had stitches in both hands but never surrendered my dogs. I knew it was my fault Dogs are only as good as their owners. Why didn’t they just call James??? So tired of that whole family.

It doesn't sound like the dog was placed in a shelter, but rather with a rescue group -- unless one considers LVP's place a shelter. Sad to say it but a dog that has bitten this many people -- and clearly some of them very severely -- after several attempts at training him needs to be put down.

If this is the first attempt at training and behavior modification, it is going to take several months to solve his biting issue. I suspect he was never properly trained in bite inhibition as a pup, and then as an older dog was yelled at or punished for biting. Now it has become fear biting. James needs to be trained to control his temper with Graham or give him to LVP.

Nasty Bite, Rachel's family did ALL the right things and the media took everything from the start of this story and twisted it. Hope James or Ally don't get bit for this rescue.
