Melissa Gorga is shutting down reports that she wants an RHONJ spinoff show for her, Joe Gorga, and their family.
Longtime Bravoleb Melissa Gorga is making it clear that she wants to stay right where she is on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
The 44-year-old recently shut down the rumor mill amid reports that she and sister-in-law Teresa Giudice are each vying for their own RHONJ spinoff show.
Melissa addressed the rumor in a comment on Reality Blurb‘s Instagram page.
“I actually don’t want a spinoff. I like where I am,” Melissa commented on an Instagram post about the rumor.
So, what exactly is this rumor about Melissa and Teresa wanting spinoff shows?
Well, OK! Magazine recently reported that the feuding sister-in-laws both want their own RHONJ spinoff shows.
“Teresa wants to leave if Melissa stays,” a source told the gossip outlet, adding, “Producers have halted production on Season 14 and don’t know when they’ll start filming because of cast conflicts, including [the one between] Teresa and Melissa.”
“People say Teresa has always thought she should have a spinoff,” the source continued, noting that the RHONJ OG would would “love” for Bravo to “follow her around” and document her new blended family with husband, Louie Ruelas.
Another source told the outlet that Melissa is also hoping to get her own spinoff show.
“She’s not having fun anymore [on RHONJ],” the source alleged. “She’s given it her all for years and feels she can do it by herself with her family and break out on her own.”
Teresa’s rep has denied that she has any plans for a spinoff show.
However, both Melissa and Teresa have made it clear that want to continue being a part of the RHONJ cast as it heads into its fourteenth season.
RHONJ is currently on “pause” for the summer as Bravo and production figure out how to move forward with the current cast amid Teresa and Melissa’s ongoing feud.
Sources tell AllAboutTRH that Bravo plans to give fans a breather from the franchise as they spend the next few months figuring out casting. Most likely, everyone in the cast will be back for season 14, but Bravo knows that fans are over the drama between Teresa Giudice and the Gorgas. The network needs to see if they can find a way to have Teresa and the Gorgas coexist on the show without their family feud taking center stage. This may mean adding some new faces to the show as either full-time cast members or friends. It could also mean that the cast may remain the same for season 14, but that certain cast members’ roles on the show will change – meaning some could be demoted to friends or some friends could become full-time cast members.
Contracts for season 14 of RHONJ have not been sent out yet. No one in the RHONJ cast has been fired or asked back for next season – yet.
According to one AllAboutTRH source, no one in the cast “knows if they will return next season or not.” The source adds that “every Housewife wants to come back.”
Another source close to production tells AllAboutTRH that “contracts still haven’t been sent out. The NJ Housewives do not know what is happening yet.”
Bravo is currently in the process of interviewing new potential Housewives. They are asking the NJ Housewives to refer women that could be a good fit for the show.
A third AllAboutTRH source notes, “Bravo is still unclear on what they are going to do for next season.”
The current plan is that filming for season 14 will begin at the “end of August.”
RHONJ currently stars Danielle Cabral, Jennifer Aydin, Melissa Gorga, Teresa Giudice, Margaret Josephs, Dolores Catania, and Rachel Fuda. Jennifer Fessler and Jackie Goldschnieder also star on the show as friends of the Housewives.
