Erika Jayne‘s estranged husband and former famed attorney tom girardi competency has been found mentally competent to stand trial despite previously being diagnosed with Alzheimers disease.

Tom Girardi competency, who is accused of stealing millions of dollars from his clients, is mentally sound enough to go before a jury for his alleged crimes, according to a new report from The Los Angeles.

In court filing on Friday, prosecutors revealed that neuropsychologist, Diana Goldstein, “has concluded her examination and opined, among other things, that [Girardi] is competent to stand trial.”

As for why and how Goldstein came to that conclusion is unknown as her findings were “filed under seal and partly redacted by Girardi’s attorneys.” Even prosecutors do not have full access to the document with Goldstein’s findings.

However, the declaration that Tom Girardi is mentally fit undercuts claims from his inner circle that the famed attorney’s crimes were a result of his dwindling mental capacity due to dementia and Alzheimers.

Tom Girardi’s attorneys are not giving up the fight just yet. They have hired to experts to independently evaluate Tom however their findings have not be disclosed to date.

The 84-year-old is “accused of federal wire fraud charges and other counts in two jurisdictions — Los Angeles and Chicago” in connection the misappropriation of $18 million dollars in client settlement funds.

People close to Tom Girardi have claimed that he has suffered from dementia for years while inhibited his ability to understand the changes against or know what happened to the millions of dollars that belonged to clients of his now-defunct Girardi Keese law firm.

“He still thinks he’s practicing law,” Tom’s estranged wife and RHOBH star Erika Jayne told Andy Cohen in 2022 on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

In January 2021, Tom was diagnosed with Alzheimers and was placed in a conservatorship overseen by his younger brother. Tom currently lives in a memory care facility.

This all came just months after Tom’s house of cards collapsed in December 2020 which is why many have questioned Tom’s diagnosis. In the weeks and days leading up to Girardi Keese crumbling, Tom was running the firm and working with clients on a daily basis with no signs on mental struggle.

Many, including the California State Bar, were suspicious that Tom Girardi was faking his dementia in order to escape prosecution for his alleged crimes. The State Bar of California noted in one filing that claims of Tom’s mental capacity issues “only after [Girardi] became enmeshed in mounting legal troubles.”

Tom was disbarred in 2022.

A hearing on Tom’s mental competency as well as a review of experts’ medical findings is set for August 3.

RHOBH is set to return for season 13 in late 2023.

I knew he was faking the severity of his decline. But for real, Are they really going to send that old man to prison? What about all those who enabled it? If he was the mastermind, what about the underlings?

I don't know much about the case against Tom. However, I do know that the case has to be adjudicated and ruled upon, and the amount owed set by a judge before Erika knows how much to pay, and where to pay it. We were just informed, by this very article, that Tom was found to be mentally competent to stand trial, so it's just begun. Just like when Teresa was judged by the public before any resolution was completed by the courts. Apparently the public, sitting behind their safe keyboards, have decided she's guilty because she continues to live. She has tried to say as little as possible, as instructed by her attorneys, so that when the case is actually final, she can then decide what to do. She is not allowed to simply start paying cash to whomever she believes has been wronged by her ex-husband. She deserves to have a job, she deserves to be thought of as Innocent until Proven Guilty. Isn't that the American way? Not on blogs I guess.

Few updates on the case Andy and Bravo continues to ignore which are just appalling considering they have kept Erika on the show: 1. Thomas was competent probably most of this time with just some very mild dementia if that and knew exactly what was happening with his cases and with the money. He probably has known exactly what to do to cover him and Erika the last few years and that “mystery” business men are still paying her legal fees out of mystery accounts is such a scam. Bravo and Andy should hang their head having Erika on the show knowing what she has propagandized taking so much money, millions from so many victims and is still spending their money and does not care. 2. Next. The California state tax board increased (keeps increasing) how much Erika owes in taxes and it is actually $2.2 million she individually owes, and that is in addition to the over $4. 4 million she owes jointly with Thomas. So Erika currently owe well over =$4 million in taxes and there is no uproar but this same audience lost it and was glad Teresa went to jail because she owed jointly $1.1 million in back taxes with Joe at the time. Teresa went to jail for those and paid those off, plus the fines and now owes another $1 million again, as do other Bravo HWs like Dorit and some from Atlanta and Vanderpump Rules cast , but Erika owes 4x this, plus what was taken from the civil cases and Bravo has the nerve to keep her on the show. It is pathetic by Bravo they have No Line of acceptable behavior, (“I owe the Government over $4 million dollars and am not paying it off” ) none at this point.

Well, well, well. It looks like Erika's protestations that the husband she left as soon as he had no money is not as far gone as she would have us believe. But then, little of what Erika says can be taken as fully truthful.

Dementia or no dementia, he had to have some or complete understanding of what he was doing. Swindling people out of their money in the trust account is a crime and it's a completely different account from the companies operating accounts. He HAD to know what he was doing, clearly doing it VERY well, because he did it for many years before everything came crashing down. It was a pyramid scheme, with less income during Covid, he couldn't keep up the money manipulation. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING!!!
