Luann de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill Slam Bethenny Frankel’s New Real Housewives Podcast

Bethenny Frankel on Rewives Podcast

Luann de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill aren’t impressed with their former Real Housewives of New York co-star Bethenny Frankel’s latest venture.

Bethenny recently announced the launch of her latest podcast venture – a Real Housewives rewatch podcast.

The iHeartMedia podcast titled ReWives won’t be about rehashing the dama, according to the Skinnygirl mogul.

“We don’t delve into that territory,” Bethenny explained to PEOPLE. “I wanted to do a rewatch podcast, but I didn’t want to do something derivative. I didn’t just want to rewatch a show, scene by scene. So I thought, ‘How could I do this in an interesting way?’ — not just having another Housewife talk about it to me like others do, but instead delving deeper. So it’s really about the real dynamics that are going on underneath, which I find to be more interesting anyway, and not the low-hanging fruit trash that others take away from it.”

The podcast will “explore real-life issues, including family, fame, finances, and friendship, through the lens of the Housewives series.”

“I never realized how many interesting dynamics are underlying that you don’t really discuss because the media only discusses what’s splashy about it, and that’s what gets the headlines,” she notes. “So, watching it back, I’m finding different things that were never talked about before. I’m not just picking up on the big, shiny items. It’s really about narrowing in on what’s insightful and talking about the whole themes in a way that somebody who has never seen the show would be as wildly entertained as someone who’s obsessed.”

As the news of Bethenny’s new podcast made the rounds on social media and in the press, some of her former RHONY costars didn’t have anything nice to say about the venture considering Bethenny’s past comments about Real Housewives.

Bethenny has previously said she has no desire to return to RHONY because it has “devolved.” She’s said Real Housewives is nothing more than “women trashing women” and  “capitalizing on our weaknesses.”

“Right, and if she s–ts on the show, that means she’s gonna s–t on us on her little podcast about the ‘Housewives,’” Luann said about Bethenny’s Housewives podcast on Friday’s episode of Danny Pellegrino’s “Everything Iconic,” podcast.

“It’s pretty sad and pathetic that she has to resort to ‘Housewives’ because of all of her failed pivots since the ‘Housewives,’” Luann noted, adding that Bethenny has “tried everything” to distance herself from Real Housewives and Bravo but points out that “it doesn’t seem to work.”

The Countess calls Bethenny’s latest move a “pretty desperate scenario.”

As for Carole, who is one of Bethenny’s former best friends, she called Bethenny’s Real Housewives podcast unoriginal but on theme for Bethenny, who built her career trashing other women and Housewives.

“Oh lordy…how original,” Carole tweeted.  “But she did build her brand by trashing & mocking women; specifically, the HWs & Bethenny always returns to what she does best. I mean, right out the gate, she trash-talks the other HW podcasts. Lol. Good luck to her. Some things will never change.

She later added: “I hope I don’t get a cease & desist letter for being a meany pants.”

Bethenny starred on RHONY from 2008 until 2011. She then rejoined the cast from 2015 to 2019. During her time on the show, Bethenny found herself at odds with almost every cast member on the show.
