With all of the news and events going on in the world, it’s no shock that many parents are talking to their children about current events, and RHOP’s Monique Samuels is no exception. The Potomac star posted a heartbreaking video on her Instagram page showcasing what it’s like for children to grow up in a time like this.
In the video, the Bravo star showed her son Christopher explaining why he was wearing a cardboard bulletproof vest:
“This is my bulletproof vest that I made” her son stated. “I made it because on the news when the people killed the guy when they put his leg up to his head.” Her son continued stating that his vest read “POLICE” because he was dressing up as a “good” officer as opposed to the police that were involved in the death of George Floyd:
“They just killed him for nothing. We don’t know why they killed him, either.” Monique then asked, “How does that make you feel?” “That makes me feel sad,” Christopher said. “They just killed an innocent person.”

Monique captioned the photo stating:
“I wish I would have documented the entire process of my 7-year-old from the moment he started making his bulletproof vest. I didn’t even realize he was paying attention to the news. Instead of discouraging him from creating this ‘work of art,’ I decided to have a talk with him and try [to] turn a negative into a positive. His final touch was to add ‘Police’ to the front of it so he can show the bad cops how to be good.”
This is so beyond heartbreaking as children often notice much more than we realize. I give Monique props for having an open conversation on her son’s feelings and having an open dialogue.
