The Valley‘s Brittany Cartwright has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Jax Taylor, after five years of marriage. Get all the deets!
Court documents filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles reveal that Brittany Cartwright filed to end her marriage to Jax Taylor.
According to Page Six, The Valley star “filed for the dissolution of marriage with a minor child” as she and her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, share a 3-year-old son, Cruz.
The 35-year-old cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of the split and listed the date of separation as Jan. 24, 2024.
Brittany Cartwright asked the judge to waive spousal support for her and Jax. She is also seeking legal and physical custody of Cruz, with Jax getting visitation rights.
Regarding their assets, Brittany Cartwright is seeking to keep all properties she acquired by gift or inheritance before marriage or after her and Jax’s date of separation.
The court documents note that the nature of such assets and debts “have not been ascertained at this time.”
The former couple’s marital and semi-community assets will be determined later. The former Vanderpump Rules stars have numerous joint businesses, including Jax’s Studio City and their podcast, “When Reality Hits.” The two also star alongside each other on Bravo’s hit show, The Valley.
Meanwhile, sources reveal that Jax Taylor is “feeling mixed emotions” about Brittany’s filing.
“[He] knows this is ultimately the right decision but is sad that things ended up the way they have,” an insider told PEOPLE. “It’s been an emotional month for him, and he’s trying to stay strong for his son.”
The source adds that Brittany felt filing for divorce was something she “knew she had to do for the best interest of herself and her son.”
“There’s a lot that has transpired over the past few months that she could not look past,” the source added. “This decision wasn’t made lightly but she feels adamant that it was the right one.”
Jax and Brittany, who met in 2015 and married in 2019, announced their separation in February. On their podcast, “When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany,” the pair announced they were taking a break: “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”
The Valley is expected to return to Bravo for season 2 in 2025.
