Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s separation has hit a new milestone as they have unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The estranged couple who stars on Bravo’s The Valley recently unfollowed each other on Instagram making it more and more likely that their current separation is a permeant rather than temporary thing.
The Vanderpump Rules alums no longer follow each others’ personal Instagram accounts but continue to follow their respective businesses. The 44-year-old still follows Brittany’s Beer Cheese Instagram account while the Kentucky native continues to follow the Instagram page for her estranged husband’s bar, Jax’s Studio City.
This latest layer in Jax and Brittany’s fractured relationship comes almost four months following their separation after 5 years of marriage.
On February 29, Brittany Cartwright announced that she and Jax were “taking time apart.” The Vanderpump Rules alum announced the news on her and Jax’s podcast, When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany.
“Yes, marriages in general are very hard, and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” the Kentucky native said in the episode. “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”
She later revealed that a lack of intimacy fueled their separation. It turns out that Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s sex life was drier than the desert in Palm Springs in the year leading up to their recent split.
However, it seems that Jax’s temper, inability to pull his weight in their marriage and lack of willingness to work on their marital issues is what pushed Brittany over the edge and gave her the courage to move out of their marital home.
“I’m taking care of my toddler, and I’m also taking care of another toddler named Jax Taylor because I basically do everything for the household,” the 35-year-old told PEOPLE earlier this month.
She added, “I just want to feel appreciated and want to feel wanted by the person that I’m married to.”
“It definitely can be challenging,” she added. “I still love Jax very much, but he is a hard person to deal with, and I think everybody in the world knows that.”
While Brittany isn’t sure where her marriage with Jax will end up, she’s glad they are no longer “fighting in front of” their son, Cruz.
“That’s what is most important right now,” she said. “Because that’s why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place.”
Jax and Brittany met in 2015 at the Gold Spike Lounge in Las Vegas. The Kentucky native quickly moved to Los Angeles to be with Jax and first appeared on season 4 of Vanderpump Rules. By 2016, Brittany had landed a job at SUR and became an official VPR cast member
After some ups and downs in their relationship, Jax proposed in June 2018, and the couple said ‘I do’ a little more than a year later, in 2019.
They welcomed their son, Cruz, in April 2021.
The Valley airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm on Bravo.
