Kyle Richards got raw and real about what being on Real Housewives has taught her during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

RHOBH star Kyle Richards is one a two OG Housewives left on Bravo. While RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice holds the crown for longest reigning Housewife following Kandi Burruss recent exit from RHOA, Kyle Richards trails right behind the NJ Housewife.

Kyle Richards has starred on RHOBH since the franchise’s debut in October 2010. She is currently the only original cast member to remain on the franchise.

So it’s not surprising that being on Real Housewives has taught Kyle Richards quite a bit about herself. The Bravo star discussed just this while appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside fellow Housewives Melissa Gorga, Ashley Darby, Gizelle Bryant, and Dorinda Medley.

“What has being a housewife taught you, Kyle?” Drew Barrymore asked.

“Oh my gosh. That’s a big question. It’s taught me so much over these 13 years. It’s taught me a lot about myself, you know, my, um, relationships with people,” Kyle began.

“Basically, I think, you know, what it’s taught me is to speak up for myself because I as, you know, contrary to what you may say on the show, I was someone who never liked confrontation. So I’ve I have really found my voice over these 13 years, sometimes too much, but it has taught me a lot,” the 55-year-old explained.

“And you do learn from seeing yourself in these situations and you do grow and learn from your mistakes, hopefully.”

Kyle Richards noted that she struggles with anxiety which has been detailed on RHOBH over the past 13 seasons.  However, her decision to stop drinking really helped her.

“I really did struggle with that for a long time, and I struggle with anxiety for so many years. And and I stopped drinking alcohol. It was just a choice,” she admitted. “Like, I don’t feel good when I wake up the next day and, you know, gets me depressed.”

“So with that came, like, my anxiety kinda went away too. I don’t know. I think it was just all came together at once, so I’m like, who knew, um, to be myself? “ she concluded.

Despite Kyle’s long running career on RHOBH, the OG recently teased that she may need a break from living her life in front of the cameras.

While chatting with Access Hollywood’s Housewives Nightcap podcast in February 2024, Kyle Richards admitted that she could see herself walking away from RHOBH for a bit after this particularly difficult season.

“Yes, I do. I mean, there were times this season I thought, I’m going through such a hard time in my personal life, and I like to show up here every day, you know, and have everyone coming at me knowing that it’s going to air again and then live with the scrutiny and the public. I mean, of course, I’m thinking, why would I do it to myself?”

Part three of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hillseason 13 reunion airs March 13 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
