Jennifer Aydin Opens Up About the Cheating Rumors Surrounding Melissa Gorga

Jennifer Aydin is revealing why she repeated rumors that Melissa Gorga cheated on her husband, Joe Gorga, as the cameras rolled for season 13 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

“The point of revealing this rumor is not to hurt Melissa,” Jennifer revealed on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast.

According to Jennifer, the point of repeating the rumor about Melissa was to expose Margaret Josephs, who has been accused by her former best friend, Laura Lee Jensen, of being the source of the gossip.

“It’s to show … everybody what [Margaret’s] true colors are,” Jennifer said. “There is a source here. So I say bring Laura on. Bring Laura on, [and] have them duke it out. Like, don’t shoot the messenger here.”

Jennifer and Teresa Giudice met up with Laura off-screen, which is when she made the allegations against Marge and Melisa.

In the season 13 trailer, Bravo fans watched the mom of five tells newbie Danielle Cabral that Melissa has been unfaithful to Joe,

“He saw Melissa in the backseat, and she was making out with another guy,” Jennifer alleged.

As AllAboutTRH reported last Summer, Melissa was accused of cheating on Joe with their longtime friend, Nick Barrotta. At the time, a source close to the RHONJ cast told AllAboutTRH exclusively that Melissa was aware of the cheating allegation long before filming for season 13 commenced. Yet, Melissa and Joe decided to blame the gossip on Teresa and use it as an excuse to skip her August wedding to Louie Ruelas.

Meanwhile, Jennifer insists she never believed the allegations against Melissa were true despite spreading the gossip.

“Me saying this about Melissa, I’m not saying that it’s true. I don’t know it to be true, I don’t believe it to be true,” she explains. “What I’m trying to say is we need to just tread lightly when it comes to Margaret because this is how she gossips within her circle of friends.”

Margaret, on the other hand, has denied gossiping behind Melissa’s back to Laura and notes that Jennifer “sure as hell” went after the Gorgas while filming season 13.

“I don’t know if [Aydin] feels that she can’t be nice to [the Gorgas] because she’s friends with Teresa,” Margaret told Page Six earlier this month. “But I think Teresa would appreciate Jennifer trying to get them back together like I did, as opposed to separating them.”

However, Aydin claims that she was just trying to keep fans informed of “what was happening” during filming.

“At that point in time, we got one of Margaret’s ex-best friends going rogue,” she says. “If I don’t do it, someone else will … I don’t want to hide things when we’re filming, I want to be authentic to what’s going on in real life, and this was going on in real life.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
