When Heather Dubrow decided to return to the Real Housewives of Orange County after a five-year hiatus, the last thing her husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow, expected to happen was for a decade-old lawsuit to rear its ugly head.
“I was blindsided with it,” the plastic surgeon who stars on E!‘s Botched told Page Six.
As RHOC viewers saw, Gina Kirschenheiter told Heather that Shannon Beador told her and Emily Simpson, off-camera, that Heather’s good friend and OC newbie Nicole James, aka Nicole Weise, sued Terry over a “botched boob job” years prior.
“To be honest with you, my initial reaction was I felt bad — because that meant that there was a problem,” Terry admitted.
“And so if I’m your doctor and there’s a problem, I feel bad about it,” he continued. “Obviously, we worked through it, and it was no big deal. Heather and Nicole are friends, and she’s a wonderful girl.”
Nicole told Terry that she didn’t think he “did anything wrong in the episode.” She explained that she was young, in her 20s, and was “pushed by attorneys” to file the lawsuit, which she later dropped.
Terry never put it together that Nicole James was previously known as Nicole Weise.
“It happened 20 years ago, and it was one of these things that came and went, and it really wasn’t a big deal,” he explained. “At first, it was like, ‘Wait, who, what, huh?’ She had a different name back then. I don’t remember much of it. I had to even ask her, ‘What happened?’”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm EST on Bravo.
