Meredith Marks Weighs in on Rumors Costar Mary Cosby is a ‘Cult Leader’

Mary Cosby’s role as a church leader once again comes under scrutiny during season 2 of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Since the debut of RHOSLC in 2020, there have been rumors and gossip about Mary and her role as the First Lady of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, and now new allegations are emerging.

Mary’s church may not be what it seems, according to some. Others question what the faith leader truly believes in. Some have accused Mary of using the church as her source of income to fund her extremely luxurious lifestyle. A video of Mary yelling at her congregation for not giving her enough birthday gifts or money raised more than a few eyebrows.

Fast forward to season 2 of RHOSLC, where allegations emerged that Mary may be a “cult leader.”  In the trailer for season 2, Whitney Rose alleged, “All the rumors are that Mary is a cult leader.”

“Is it a cult? Yes. Does she call herself god? Yes,” an unknown man alleged during a conversation with Lisa Barlow.

Mary denied the rumors in tears, telling Lisa, “I’m not god. I worship the god in me.”

Now, Meredith Marks is defending Mary against the accusations she’s a cult leader.

“I was at Mary’s church, and I saw nothing other than people who were very high-energy, really enjoying expressing their faith and that they really do love Mary,” Meredith told E! News. “I did not see anything that would ever lead me to believe that it was anything but a church. So I can’t speak to anything beyond that because that’s my personal experience, and I have no reason to believe anything beyond that.”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
