I think we all can agree that this season is by far not Ramona’s best. The OG of NYC has refused to have serious conversations around race and politics and has come off as elitist and tone-deaf by referring to hired staff as ‘the help’ and living in her UES bubble.
According to Page Six Singer is now threatening to be a no show to the reunion as she is worried that Eboni K. Williams will try and paint her as a racist:
“Singer, 64, approached producers about the possibility of her not attending due to Williams, 37, potentially attempting to paint her as a racist during the Bravo special, even asking if they can avoid the topic of race altogether. Production reportedly refused, saying that’s something they would never consider. It would also be difficult to avoid the topic, as this is Williams’ — the first Black cast member of this franchise — first season.”
Despite rumors that Ramona was refusing to attend, reports state that she “will still be in attendance, though she felt it important that producers were aware of her concerns ahead of the event.”
Ramona and Williams have clashed the entire season with Eboni trying to engage Ramona in political discussions, which Ramona refusing to do saying that she believes political views should be private (something I don’t entirely disagree with.) Eboni was also triggered by Ramona who referred to her Hamptons staff as “the help” with Eboni stating “Honey, nobody is the help. It’s derogatory and it’s demeaning.”
I’m sure the two will have plenty to discuss at the reunion; however, in the meantime let’s hope they can find some middle ground.
