It’s a long weekend, and RHOBH is heating up – is there anything more us Bravo fans could ask for?
Bravo is really pulling out all the stops this year with the Beverly Hills cast, and I think their biggest gift to us viewers has been Kathy Hilton. In addition to revealing her childhood passion of performing unlicensed dental work and haircuts, even her own sister Kyle ponders how Kathy makes it through life. Kathy continues to be her quirky self (at least now we know where Kim gets it) as she is baffled as to why a fan will not work until Kyle shows her how to plug it in. All we need is Kim and her chicken salad in this mix, and I would be one happy camper. Kyle reveals that being on good terms with Kathy has decreased her anxiety as there is nothing worse than fighting with family and the two make up for lost time at Lake Tahoe:
We get to know more about the newbie Crystal (and the rest of the cast) in a salacious game of two truths and a lie. Crystal proves that she has what it takes to be a housewife as she reveals that she worked for an escort service, although there is a loophole as she wasn’t actually an escort. Apparently, Crystal was good at being an escort phone operator and was offered a promotion to ‘Madam’ but ultimately left the industry. Erika approves that she is ‘her kind of girl’ as the bar is set pretty high for the other ladies after Crystal’s big reveal:
Despite being in a beautiful setting of Lake Tahoe, things aren’t all pretty as racial issues are brought to the surface as we finally have a more diverse cast which makes the newer ladies question the others’ actions. Garcelle proves that she and Kyle still aren’t in a great place as she was very hurt that Kyle would call her out about a missing charity donation at the reunion, which humiliated Garcelle. Garcelle then asks Kyle if she would have done the same to one of the white women, which shocks Kyle in a literal jaw-dropping moment. While at Lake Tahoe, the seeds of Crystal and Sutton’s feud are planted as Sutton claims she doesn’t look at race which doesn’t sit well with Crystal. Crystal points out that it’s easy for Sutton to not focus on race as she doesn’t live with stereotypes and discrimination daily, and you can tell that Sutton hasn’t dealt with this type of conversation much in her life. Sutton clearly is taken aback by Crystal’s statements, and it’s clear these two will continue to have issues throughout the season (leather pants and all.)
Other issues include Garcelle being real with Rinna and telling her straight to her face that she can’t trust her as a friend. I’m on Team Garcelle as Rinna isn’t a friend to anyone other than herself and her bank account. Rinna admits that she can’t promise she won’t use things Garcelle says against her, and Rinna basically proves Garcelle’s point. Despite all of the drama, perhaps the most shocking part is that the ladies had to carry their own luggage as there was no staff. The horror!
