Jen Shah is begging the court to postpone her ongoing criminal case.
According to court docs obtained by Radar Online, lawyers for the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star say they need more time to get through the “tremendous volume” of discovery materials prosecutors collected during their investigation of Jen.
The next hearing is scheduled for May 10 however Jen’s attorney is requesting it be pushed back to June 18.
Jen’s attorney claims they were hired after her March arrest. The Bravoleb and her assistant, Stuart Smith, were arrested as part of a large telemarketing scam and Jen is accused of playing a large role in the long-running scheme that defrauded elderly victims.
Prosecutors claim Jen and her assistant “created fake business websites to generate lists of potential. They sold the lists to telemarketing companies who scammed the people on the list.”
They were allegedly “paid a portion of the money the company received from defrauding the victims.”
The reality TV star’s legal team says they “have worked diligently to familiarize ourselves with a very complex case involving a related indictment that was tried, more than two dozen defendants between both cases, and, most significantly a tremendous volume of discovery materials.”
“The discovery, in this case, adds up to more than 277 gigabytes of data, which could well number a million pages or more pages of documents,” Jen’s attorney explained.
No ruling has been made on the request to date.
Jen pleaded not guilty to the charges and insists she’s innocent. She is facing up to 50 years in prison.
RHOSLC will return to Bravo for season 2 in late 2021.
