I suppose the upside of having an open marriage is that you still have your original partner if you break up with your girlfriend. Case in point? Braunwyn Windham-Burke.
The controversial RHOC star recently split from her much younger girlfriend Kris, to the surprise of no one, as she had stated that any girlfriend she had would have to be okay with her living with her husband Sean. I don’t know many people who would be signing up for that scenario and apparently Kris wasn’t feeling it either. Braunwyn recently appeared on the People Every Day podcast and gave an update on her very complicated love life and explained what went wrong. Per Braunwyn:
“A lot of things were happening in my marriage at the time. Sean had someone else in our home, I had feelings for another woman, a lot of things were occurring off-camera at that time. And it basically kind of blew up,” she recalled.
Braunwyn also gave a recap of her conversation with Sean where she revealed that she wanted to be with women, which Sean took very well considering the two have been married for over 20 years:
“Sean and I had a very good, long, honest conversation, and I was like, ‘I want to be with a woman. This is what I want,'” the Bravo personality said. “We had known that I was bisexual for a long time, but some things had happened… I was sober, I was doing inventory, and I had, for the first time in my life, been with a woman, sober. … And I was like, I’m not straight at all. I know this now.”
Despite getting backlash for expecting Sean to be okay with her dating women while remaining married, Braunwyn claims that she still plans to stay married to Sean for the forseeable future, adding:
“We are doing our best to navigate something that I’ve never seen done before. We do want to stay married, we do want to stay parents, we are best friends. And some days that seems very attainable, and some days it doesn’t.” Braunwyn added that “we are navigating something in real time, and we’re not making any big decisions.”
Braunwyn seems to love to stay in the press and I’m thinking it’s an attempt to secure a spot for next season. Time will tell if these two can make their very modern marriage work; however I think I speak for many when I say it doesn’t necessarily need to be on TV.
