Addressing it all!
If you recall, fans slammed Andy for being biased towards Monique at the reunion. They accused the WWHL host of “gaslighting” Monique and being “real one-sided.”
Andy addressed the backlash on the January 3 episode of Watch What Happens Live.
“I have to say I was really pushing for this to be four parts,” Andy explained.“I really talked to Candiace [Dillard], a lot, about her role in this, and the fact that really people think that, a lot of people think that she provoked it, and she said ‘drag me.’”
“And we talked about that in relation to what Kenya [Moore] and Porsha [Williams] went through, and I don’t think enough of that made it in the show, clearly, so, there you go,” he continued. “I know a lot of people were very upset.”
Now Monique is reacting to Andy’s comments and sharing her thoughts on what went down at the season 5 reunion.
To start, Monique made it clear she didn’t blame Andy for how she was treated at the reunion, noting, he was just “doing his job.”
However, she did admit that the reunion “wasn’t equal.”
“It definitely wasn’t equal now. No, it definitely wasn’t equal,” the former RHOP star said on her Youtube series Tea with Monique.
“I’ll put it like this; we filmed for 11 hours. I was in the hot seat for a good five, six of those hours,” she explained. “But I will say, we all thought we were going to get four parts, and what we got was three and a half. We should’ve had four. There was a lot more to be shown, but I’m definitely not going to sit here and say that it was equal. The accountability definitely wasn’t equal.”
She continued, “I knew going into [the] reunion that it was going to be heavy for me and that it was going to be a lot of heat coming in my direction. So on one side, I can’t really be upset with Andy. He was doing his job. That’s what he was there to do. But on the other side, I definitely can agree and wished they would have shown four parts because there was so much more that was talked about, not even just with the issue of me and Candiace. Just in general.”
Later, one of Monique’s panelists, Jay Hinson, asked her if she thinks Andy likes her.
Monique once again came to Andy’s defense, saying that he was “just doing his job.”
“I don’t think he dislikes me,” she replied. “I’ve never had an issue with Andy. I’ve never felt he disliked me or anything. I honestly felt like he was just doing his job.”
RHOP will return to Bravo for season 6 in 2021.
