Monique Samuels Denies She Quit RHOP After Being Demoted To A Friend For Season 6; Says Part 3 of the Reunion Led To Her Decision To Quit the Show

Setting the record straight!

Monique Samuels is shutting down rumors she was demoted to a friend for season 6 of the Real Housewives of Potomac and that’s why she walked away from the show altogether.

The now-former RHOP star chatted with AllAbouttheTea and let it be known that she did receive an offer letter for season 6.

“I definitely received an offer along with a phone call,” Monique insisted.

She went on to explain that the process of being demoted “doesn’t really happen like that” meaning that Housewives aren’t demoted before a season starts filming.

“It doesn’t really happen like that,” Monique explained. “A lot of times when people get demoted to a friend it happens while you’re already filming the season. So, what happens is you have an exercise in your contract that says ‘I can move forward with what was stated previously.’ And it’s called an offer and I definitely received an offer along with a phone call.”

Monique then revealed that she was “excited” to return for season 6 of RHOP. However, that all changed when she watched part 3 of the season 5 reunion.

“I was actually excited to be back and to know, okay, this time I’m gonna redeem myself, I’m gonna show my growth” she confessed. “But when I saw episode 3 of the reunion, I said you know what, you can’t do this anymore.”

That is when Monique decided to quit RHOP for good. She announced her exit that very night during an Instagram Live.

“It was a crazy ride – it’s not easy doing reality TV and to be quite honest, I’m over it. I appreciate everything people have done for me, everybody that has been Team Monique…I love yall, but when you cross certain lines, there’s no going back. For me, my family is that line. The opinion of my family and my kids and what they think about that I do is more valuable to me than anybody’s opinion, so I’m over it,” Monique explained during an Instagram Live on December 27. “This season, I played right into that stereotype. I was working overtime to check myself because that’s the opposite of what I want to display. I’m always going to be a great example or a role model for my kids, and you have to know when enough is enough.”

RHOP will return to Bravo for season 6 in 2021.
