The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - RHOBH

RHOBH Casting Update: Rumors Swirl of Newest Housewife As Bravo is Urged to Increase Diversity!

It’s no secret that next season of Beverly Hills will have a casting shakeup – so what should fans expect?

Well to give a quick recap of what we know so far, Teddi was not asked back and Denise has quit the show. Andy Cohen has confirmed no Kardashians (including Caitlyn Jenner) would be joining; however another famous name, Kathy Hilton, is rumored to be an official housewife ‘friend.’ Despite expressing (a lot) of interest, Brandi Glanville has not yet been asked back, and other rumors have even stated that Erika Girardi may have been asked back only in a ‘friend’ capacity. With that being said, many fans have theorized who will be asked back and who will join the show, with many urging Bravo to increase diversity in the Housewives franchises.

Last season, we saw the first black Beverly Hills Housewife, as Garcelle Beauvais joined the cast, and rumors are now picking up that RHOBH may see it’s first Asian Housewife. Bravo has come under scrutiny for hiring mostly white women to join the franchises, despite casting in locations with diverse populations including NYC and California. After Bravo hinted they would make a more conscious effort to seek out a more diverse cast, as the rumor is the newest lady to join the iconic Beverly Hills zip code cast will be Crystal Kung Minkoff, a successful businesswoman who, according to Wikipedia is a “76th-generation descendant of Confucius.” So what do we know about the newest possible recruit?  According to her husband Rob Minkoff’s Wikipedia page, they went to the Finding Nemo premiere for their first date as her husband works for Disney and got his big break directing ‘The Lion King’ in 1994.  While her husband may be a Disney powerhouse, Crystal is successful in her own right as she s the Boss Babe to a successful coconut company that specializes in coconut water, creamer, and chips. The two also have two children together, Max and Zoe.

Take a look at the cute couple below:

Despite not knowing too much about the couple at this point, based on their careers (which allow them to likely lead a luxurious lifestyle) I think they would be an interesting fit. Do we really need any more real estate moguls or former actresses in the franchise? These two could be a refreshing addition to the Beverly Hills cast – stay tuned for official confirmation!

Thoughts on the possibility of Crystal and her husband joining the show? Do you think Bravo needs to increase the diversity in their overall casting?
