To be straight up, Stassi Schroeder found it challenging to get through her first interview since being fired from Vanderpump Rules.
On Thursday, September 17, Stassi appeared on The Tamron Hall Show for her first interview since being fired by Bravo in June.
However, it turns out the interview wasn’t the experience Stassi was hoping for.
“Stassi felt totally unprepared for the interview,” a source tells Us Weekly. “She wasn’t in a good mood afterward and felt like she was put on the spot. She has built her brand on being candid and funny, and she feels afraid to make any wrong comments or jokes and having them come across negatively, which, in turn, made the interview awkward.”
The insider adds, “She doesn’t want to make a wrong move or say anything that can be taken out of context because she really has been taking time to work on herself. She felt somewhat caught off guard in how the interview went down because she really has been doing her best to learn, educate herself, and be the best version of herself that she can be.”
A second source explains, “Producers laid the segments out for Stassi and her team, and everything was all set. And then, to everyone’s surprise, Tamron [Hall] went rogue and took the interview in a completely different direction.”
Stassi also revealed that “the hardest part” of this scandal is people believing she’s a racist.
She explained: “I never felt like I was a racist, I don’t have hate in my heart, but I recognize that I wasn’t anti-racist. I wasn’t, and that’s something I’ve been learning throughout all of this.”
The former Straight Up With Stassi podcast host admitted that she’s focusing on becoming “a better person” for her daughter, due in January 2021.
Meanwhile, a source says that Stassi’s fiancé, Beau Clark, has “been a rock” for her and that he “unconditionally loves and supports her.”
The insider adds, “He has been taking care of her and supporting her both in their relationship, during her pregnancy and when it comes to her career and future.”
Meanwhile, Tamron hall is addressing the claims made in this report and denies Stassi was ambushed during their interview. In fact, Tamron claims she went easy on the pregnant former reality star and even agreed not to ask Stassi about her “controversial” #MeeToo movement remarks.
“The other day I was told that there was a report that Stassi felt ‘unprepared’ and that it was ‘awkward.’ Even that I had gone rogue — whatever that means,” Tamron said on Tuesday about Us Weekly’s article. “Let me just be open because I’m expecting everybody who’s participating in this show today; I want them to be open, so I have to do the same. It’s why I wanted this show to be honest with you.”
“So I’m going to take you behind the scenes of TV,” she continued. “Now, I don’t tell people the specific questions I’m going to ask them. How they answer, that’s up to them. But the topic and everything that we discussed, Stassi knew. She knew the subject matter. She knew what I was going to ask her. Not the questions.”
Tamron went on to say that “the night before the interview,” Stassi’s team asked that she not bring up Stassi’s 2017 comments about the #MeToo movement. On a podcast episode titled, “Are we on a male witch hunt?” Stassi bashed the #MeToo movement. (If you are curious what exactly Stassi said, I transcribed the entire podcast episode for the site back in 2017. You can read it HERE)
“It hit me to my gut that I didn’t ask her,” Tamron confessed. “But again, I want to be honest with you. Given that she was five months pregnant, the issue of race was hard enough for her and for me, and it was a lot to unpack, including that Nazi comment, so I said we were not going to go down that road, but we would have this difficult conversation that we all should have to provide a better platform for our children.”

It’s unclear if Bravo will renew Vanderpump Rules for season 9.
