Below Deck’s Malia White Confirms Split from Chef Tom Checketts!

Perhaps Below Deck’s Malia finally learned that it’s not wise to mix business with pleasure?

The Bravo duo started off apart, but ended up working together this season after fan favorite Chef Kiko was fired. Malia received some criticism on and off the boat as she was MIA when Kiko was chef; however was suddenly sous chef as soon as Tom came aboard. The two also had their share of trouble as Tom formed quite the diva attitude in the kitchen and threw tantrums which made the rest of the crew (including Malia) tip toe around the galley. So did they make it? That’s a negative.

According to Bravotv.com, the two are over. Malia confirmed it on her Instagram stating: “Hey, guys, it’s Malia. My personal life seems to be quite the topic at the moment. And I am not on Twitter, I don’t do a lot of Instagram Lives, so I thought I would send out a message in my own words. So first off, yes, Tom and I have split. The details surrounding all of it I am trying to keep a little private, just out of respect to him and I. But yes, I am single.”

Tom’s temper combined with Malia’s strong personality didn’t make for the best mix, and I can see why they didn’t end up together after working together. To the best of my knowledge there has never been a successful Below Deck couple so unless I’m proven wrong, perhaps it’s best to keep things professional while on the boat.

Thoughts on Malia and Tom’s split? Are you surprised?
