The show must go on with or without Leah McSweeney.
According to a new report from OK! Magazine, the Real Housewives of New York, will begin filming season 13 this week without newbie Leah.
This move comes after Leah felt “disrespected” by Bravo’s season 13 contract offer. Various outlets have reported that Bravo “stiffed” Leah and offered her a “pathetically low” salary similar to her rookie contract, which equaled $60,000 for the season.
As a result, Leah will not participate in season 13 until a better offer is on the table.
“Leah is trying to strong-arm them into paying her double, putting her on the same money level as old-timers LuAnn [de Lesseps] and Sonja [Morgan]. However, Bravo is not budging. They are starting to film without Leah and think she will back down after a few weeks of them not needing her,” an insider tells OK! Magazine.
The insider adds, “Bravo is super tight when it comes to money. None of the ladies earn millions on the show. The reason the franchise is so successful and won’t be canceled like the Kardashians is because Bravo watches the bottom line like a hawk. The only person making a ton of money off this franchise is Bravo.”
Meanwhile, Leah has been very vocal about wanting more diversity on RHONY, and it looks like Bravo is granting her wish.
Fashionista Alicia Quarles is reportedly joining the season 13 cast to increase “diversity” on the show.
“Alicia has been demoted to a ‘friend of’ the show and is being paid a day rate rather than a salary — until she proves herself,” a source tells OK!. “Bravo is frightened that she might be ‘too nice’ to fight and hang with these super tough ladies.”
More diversity is coming to RHONY, but Bravo is staying quiet on the details.
“Another lady will be starting tomorrow,” said the insider, “but so far, the ladies have no clue who she is because Bravo is scared of leaks.”
While all these reports sound juicy AF, a Bravo spokesperson tells OK! “All of this inaccurate.”
Part two of RHONY season 12 reunion airs on Thursday, September 17, at 9 p.m. ET.
