Former #RHONY star Heather Thomson hints that she has some "exciting news" to share with fans on Thursday's episode of #WWHL. 🍎 Do you think Heather will be announcing her return to RHONY? 🍎 #realhousewives #realhousewivesofnewyork #dorindamedley #bravotv #realitytv #nyc #realitytvdrama #AllAboutTRH #Entertainment #TheRealHousewives #Gossip #RealityByBravo #Drama #Bravo #DramabyBravo #rhonyseason13 #therealhousewivesofnewyork #newyork #realhousewivesnews #realhousewivesgossip #watchwhathappenslive #andycohen #holla #heatherthomson #yummietummie
Since Heather dropped this hint, many RHONY fans have been speculating that Heather may be returning to the show for season 13.
Bravo is currently looking to fill the two significant holes in the Real Housewives of New York cast. These holes come as a result of Tinsley Mortimer’s mid-season exit and Dorinda Medley’s recent shocking departure.
With Dorinda and Tinsley gone, Bravo is looking to find suitable replacements for both.
Back in July, Leah McSweeney called for Bravo add more diversity to all of its shows, including the Real Housewives of New York.
“I hope that there’s not only diversity of race, but an even deeper diversity of where someone lives or what their interests are,” Leah explained to Page Six. “I hope that there’s just more diversity all across the board because New Yorkers are not a monolith, obviously. I think that it is gonna head in that direction.”
Since then, Andy Cohen has admitted that he’s “excited” to add more diversity to the RHONY cast for season 13 and beyond.
“We’re working on next season,” Andy told Us Weekly about plans to diversify the season 13 cast of RHONY. “I’m excited for what we have planned.”
Bravo’s plans to diversify the RHONY cast doesn’t mean that they can’t bring back a familiar face or two. Like we said, the RHONY cast is already down two Housewives, but it also wouldn’t be unheard of for Bravo to add a seventh or eighth Housewife into the mix.
In previous years, RHONY has had anywhere from six to eight Housewives per season. This gives Bravo plenty of room to do anything and everything they want with the season 13 cast of RHONY.
Meanwhile, former RHONY star Kristen Taekman thinks it’s time for the “older OGs to step down” to “friends of” the Housewives and make room for some new blood.
“I think it’s time for the ‘Older OGs’ to step down and be a ‘friend of’ – their storylines are so old, I think it’s time – I would rather see a couple of those ladies still be in the fray, but we don’t need to know about their storyline anymore,” she confessed. “Nobody wants to see these older women dating. I don’t.”
Only time will tell what casting decisions Bravo decides to make for season 13, but either way, I’m excited for the future of the franchise. And I would love to Heather back on RHONY! Heather and Leah would be a fun combo!
Part one of RHONY season 12 reunion airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
Let’s Discuss: Do you think Heather will be announcing her return to RHONY? What could Heather’s “exiting news” be?
