Dorinda Medley shocked fans when she announced her exit from the Real Housewives of New York, but sources say she’s doing just fine amid her departure.
“Dorinda is at peace with her decision to leave RHONY,” a source tells HollywoodLife. “Being under contract with Bravo and filming as a housewife is not a priority of hers.”
On Aug. 25, Dorinda announced her exit on Instagram.
“What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice,” Dorinda wrote.
“But all things must come to an end,” she continued. “This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband, Richard, passed away. I have met so many interesting people and learned so much about myself, about life, and about women along the way. Thank you to Bravo and NBC for the incredible ride and to my castmates for constant stimulation and entertainment. I wish you all health, happiness, and success.”
“She’s taking this time to focus on herself and her family,” the source added of Dorinda’s exit.
“She’s not saying she never wants to be on television or RHONY ever again,” the source said. “The schedule is really rigorous and takes a lot of time, which she just isn’t able to give that kind of time right now.”
“You may even see her pop-up next season here and there,” the source claimed. “She’s not opposed to filming; she just doesn’t want to be tied down to the schedule of it all at this time.”
While this source is wrapping up Dorinda’s exit from RHONY in a pretty little package, a source tells AllAboutTRH that Dorinda was fired from the franchise for her horrific and unapologetic behavior during season 12.
Meanwhile, it seems that Dorinda’s departure has Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps shaking in their Louboutins.
“The show has gotten too old and stale. What was once fun is now a bunch of rich old white ladies complaining about their lives that most people would kill for. Overall ratings for the series has been steady, but numbers in the younger advertiser demo are not good and only getting worse. Ramona is the oldest at 63 [years old] and is fighting for her life on the show,” sources tell OK!.
“Meanwhile, Luann looks like a baby at 55 [years old] compared to Ramona, but it is feared her storyline has come to a natural end and it is time to replace her with new blood too,” the insider adds.
“Luann was demoted from a full-time cast member to being a ‘friend’ on the show once before. After that humiliation, she’s not as scared as Ramona. Outside the show, Luann has her cabaret shows and a life. If she gets fired again, she will be OK,” the source reveals. “It is Ramona everyone is worried about. This show has become Ramona’s entire life; she would be lost without the show and the paycheck. Being on TV is her identity.”
The Real Housewives of New York airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
