Lisa Vanderpump may be the HBIC on Vanderpump Rules, but it turns out she doesn’t make all the rules.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lisa gets candid for the first time about Bravo’s decision to fire Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni from Vanderpump Rules.
Stassi and Kristen were fired after Faith Stowers, who was the only black cast member during season 4 of VPR, revealed that they reported her to the police for a crime she didn’t commit. Max and Brett, on the other hand, were fired after their past racist tweets resurfaced earlier this year.
“I think it’s sad, really, what happened, because I do think that people can learn from their mistakes, and I’m all about that,” Lisa told ET on Thursday, August 13. “I think you’ve seen that on the show. Of course, we do know that we’re in this momentum of really people kind of standing up for what’s right, and I’m all about that and embracing that — and I do believe in zero tolerance for that — but I also believe that you can come back from that and you’re young, and you can learn from it.”
“Stassi hadn’t worked for me for a couple of years, nor had Kristen. So that part wasn’t down to me really at all,” Lisa explained. “It’s not my decision. And I think that was then and this is now, but I’m all about giving people second chances, yes, but also about holding people accountable.”
Meanwhile, Lisa says she’s “reached out” to Stassi “two or three” times in the last few months; however, The Next Level Basic author has yet to call her back.
“I haven’t heard back from [Stassi], and I really, you know, I do love them both,” Lisa said.
However, Lisa says she understands if Stassi wants to “step away” from it all and instead focus on “a happy time in her life.” As we’ve previously reported Stassi is expecting her first child with fiancé Beau Clark.
When asked if “new cast members” will be added to the Pump Rules cast, if the show does return for season 9, Lisa said, “It’s really up to people that want to be front and center. I mean, I’m always all about that. Our companies are like the United Nations.”
It’s unclear if Bravo will renew Vanderpump Rules for season 9.
