Jill Zarin recently returned to the Real Housewives of New York for a Halloween episode. She attended a Halloween costume party hosted by Luann de Lesseps.
However, the former NY Housewife was less than happy with her return to the show.
As any die-hard RHONY fans know that Jill is an OG cast member who helped launch the franchise. She starred on the show for four seasons; however, upon her return during season 12, she was labeled a “friend of Luann.”
Now, Jill is speaking out about the slap in the face and insists that RHONY producers hate her.
“Do you love that they call me ‘a friend of Luann’ now? I don’t think the producers of Housewives like me,” Jill said on the Everything Iconic podcast. “Not Bravo, [but] my production company hates me, and I don’t know why. I don’t know what I did to them. Things like that happen, and I’m like, ‘What did I do?’ The fans hated that more than I did. I didn’t care.”
Heather Thompson replaced Jill during season 5 of the show. To this day, Jill doesn’t think Heather was an adequate replacement. Jill thinks RHONY fans were robbed because they lost the Zarin family as a whole on the show.
“I feel like the fans got the short end of the stick to a certain extent because they lost a family,” Zarin said. “Even though they brought on Heather to replace me … she had a husband and two little kids, but it wasn’t the same. She didn’t have a mother and a father and a sister. Like I felt like that was a missing piece. And it didn’t have to be me! But let somebody else’s mother come on. Give us a full family.”
When asked if she would ever return to the show full-time, Jill says she’s not interested mostly because she doesn’t think Housewives is going to last much longer.
“I think that ship’s sailed, I think that the show is coming to … I mean, I don’t know what’s gonna happen, I think it’s struggling right now,” she said about a possible return to the show.
Meanwhile, Jill also recently claimed that RHONY star Dorinda Medley blocked her from attending the cast trip to the Berkshires. She also hinted that Dorinda felt threatened about her possible return to the show because, at the time, Luann was pushing for producers to bring back Jill full-time following Tinsley Mortimer’s exit.
“I wanted to go that weekend up to Dorinda’s house. I’m glad I didn’t because I think it would have been bad for me. But I wanted to, and Dorinda blocked me,” Jill told Elyse Slaine during an Instagram Live in July. “She was very mean to me at the party that night… at the Halloween party. And I said, ‘I can’t do this.’ She was so mean to me. I said, ‘You know, Dorinda, did I do something to you? You’ve been very mean to me.’ And she goes, ‘Bravo, Bravo Bravo! We’re not doing this on the show. You’re just using me to get on the show.’”
“It would have been fun, and I just wanted to do [the Berkshires trip], and that was it. I was going to Florida,” Jill noted. “I don’t know why Dorinda felt so threatened by me. If anything, I would have been very loyal to her because we have a history together. I would have been a good person to back her up against Ramona. I would have been an ally.”
The Real Housewives of New York airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
