Melissa and Joe Gorga are opening up about their experience on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
The RHONJ stars appeared on the Whine Down podcast and revealed if they regret joining the show that made them famous.
Whine Down co-host Michael Caussin asked the Bravolebs if they could go back, would change anything about joining RHONJ, and their experience on reality TV.
“Not too much,” Melissa admitted. “I feel like Joe and I, like out the Housewives and the couples, have gotten a lot more of the positive. We do show that we go through struggles. Like a real family, we fight through it, and we do show our real couples situations all the time. So, we don’t take it too seriously, like we really don’t.”
“Some Housewives, won’t mention names – it’s not just our franchise, they get on this show, and they want a divorce, they want a statue in the middle of their town. It’s insane. We are on a show; obviously, we have great opportunities from it. I have Envy – my boutique’s amazing. We’ve learned; we’re branded now at this point. You know there are so many opportunities with that for me. It’s like we go to work, but we also go to work very authentically. We go to work, and I get it – it’s a job, but we’re showing what we would really do and saying what we would really do. So, when I have an argument with these ladies, I am not putting it on for the cameras; I really tell them I think they are wackjobs. We get that its work but it authentic work.”
Meanwhile, Melissa also dished on filming for season 11 of RHONJ.
“We actually started filming for like a week or two, then COVID happened, and then they closed is down. So we only got half an episode in,” Melissa explained. “We are about to start up again.”
She continued, “We are going to be one of the ones that are definitely filming during this craziness, so we will see how that goes.”
Melissa also revealed that the RHONJ cast has been filming some of their lives on iPhones, etc.
“Been there, done that, already,” Melissa said about filming themselves without the Bravo cameras. “We’ve been doing some things like that, but we’re doing real heads up filming coming up.”
She adds that she hopes Bravo can “turn it over fast enough.”
Melissa also talked about Real Housewives fans and what it takes to handle their scrutiny.
“When you’re on Housewives, you have to deal with that,” Melissa said of fans not liking you. “The fans are deep, strong, [and] opinionated. They will die for you, but they will also want you dead. Like you have to have the thickest skin and be like okay, see you later, onto the next. You cannot even blink. The first two years I was on the show, I cried under my bed.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey will return to Bravo in late 2020 or early 2021.
