Tamra Judge is in hot water from comments regarding former OC housewife Peggy Sulahian and her accent. Tamra’s comments weren’t well-received as mocking someone’s second language simply isn’t cool, and to prove that Peggy is now responding.
Peggy may have only appeared on the show for one season; however, she did make an impact and not just the 100th housewife in Bravo history. Peggy was the first Armenian-American housewife and also one of the few ‘wives to have learned English as a second language. Despite many not finding Peggy a good fit for the franchise, it certainly wasn’t due to her accent. During an appearance on Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef, Tamra commented on Peggy stating:
“Anyone you have to subtitle should not be on the show. That’s what I feel. If you can’t understand what they’re saying, that’s difficult. I think she was nice, but I just don’t think she was good TV. It does not mean you’re a horrible person, it just takes a certain personality.”
Now speaking to Reality Blurb, Peggy is firing back regarding Tamra’s accent, stating:
“It certainly does take a ‘certain’ personality to provoke discord. As an immigrant to this country, I learned the language, graduated university, raised a family, and have contributed to my community. I don’t believe her inability to understand me has anything to do with my accent, which I am proud of. Tamra, if you have a problem, pick up your phone and call me. Let’s discuss.”
