Brittany Cartwright’s BFF Zack Wickham Defends Stassi and Kristen After Firing; Says They Deserve A Second Chance Plus, Brittany’s Mom Placed in ICU After Emergency Surgery

The current and former cast members of Vanderpump Rules continue to make headlines.

Brittany Cartwright’s best friend Zack Wickham is coming to the defense of Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute following their firing from Pump Rules.

Last week, Stassi and Kristen were fired from Pump Rules along with Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni.

This move came after former SURver Faith Stowers revealed that Stassi and Kristen called the cops on her in 2018 for a crime she didn’t commit as revenge for sleeping with Jax Taylor.

Since being fired from Pump Rules, Stassi has also lost her podcast as well as all her sponsors. Her uber-popular Straight Up With Stassi LIVE has also been canceled.

In a post on Instagram, Zack said that he had to address the controversy surrounding “the people that I consider my family.”

“Kristen is one of the most generous and kind humans I know that goes to bat for everyone. She has never said or insinuated anything racist online or on a podcast. We call her ‘Detective Doute’ because she will get to the bottom of anything. She is also the most fiercely (in the best way) loyal human to her friends,” Zack shared. “That blinded her in the moment when this situation went down, and she is now having to pay for it with her livelihood and reputation, which is not deserved in any way.”

He continued, “Her recent book launch fell on Blackout Tuesday, and she chose not to promote it, not even once. She didn’t want to pull focus from the Black Lives Matter cause because she truly believes in it and wants to make a difference.”

As for Stassi, Zack admits that the Next Level Basic author has made some controversial statements in the past but says she’s always growing and trying to do better.

“Whenever Stassi made beyond cringe-worthy comments on her podcast in the past, she and I then did another podcast together where I explained white privilege and why her comments needed to be checked, although, nobody brought that up when the podcast with the negative comments resurfaced,” he wrote. “She lost all her (podcast) sponsors at that time, and it made her really look at her white privilege and examine why she thought the way she did. Yes, she has made mistakes and I know she will continue to grow and learn from them.”

Zack added that he couldn’t stay silent despite knowing he’s going to get “so much hate” online for defending his friends.

“Standing up for those I love is more important to me then the hundreds of hate comments I will likely receive,” he shared. “As someone who was a bridesman at Brittany and Jax’s wedding, you might think my opinion is skewed or unreliable, but I hold my friends accountable for their actions.”

He continued, “In the end, what I am trying to convey is that these are individuals that you can easily forget are real people too and are essentially ‘growing up’ on national television and in the public eye. They have all grown and have learned over the better part of a decade, and that is what I feel is the greatest thing about reality TV. It’s that it can bring out a national conversation and bring things to light that might not have been addressed otherwise. While we should be holding people accountable one hundred percent, let’s give them the opportunity to educate themselves so they can actively change their way of thinking into more open-minded, knowledgeable citizens.”

Meanwhile, Brittany Cartwright is overwhelmed with emotions as she deals with Faith’s racism allegation and her mom Sherri Cartwright’s ongoing health crisis.

Sherri has been placed in ICU after having to undergo emergency surgery following a bladder procedure “that went bad.”

Brittany’s rep confirmed the news to Us Weekly, saying Brittany’s “mother is currently in the ICU due to serious complications from bladder surgery. Brittany has been beside herself and asking for prayers. She is planning to go to Kentucky to be by her mother’s bedside next week – it’s been complicated having visitors at the hospital due to COVID-19, which has been very difficult for Brittany and her family.”

This news on top of Faith’s accusation has left the Pump Rules star reeling. Earlier this month, Faith claimed that Brittany used a racist slur towards her after learning of her affair with Brittany’s then-boyfriend/now-husband, Jax Taylor.

“Brittany is beyond overwhelmed,” a source tells Us Weekly. “Her mom is in the hospital, in the ICU, and that matters more than anything else. Imagine dealing with that and combating comments calling her a racist when she is anything but that?”

“She’s being hit at all angles,” the insider added. “This week has been a lot for her. However, her sole focus has shifted to her mom. That is undoubtedly her top priority, and all she is concerned with [is] focusing her energy on. Her mom is her whole world, and she’s very worried. She’s also blessed to have a strong support system by her side. Jax has his flaws, but when it comes to being Brittany’s rock, he has not wavered. He is unconditionally and wholeheartedly there for her, as are her closest friends. She knows she is loved and supported as she navigates through this really difficult time.”

Part 3 of theVanderpump Rules season 8 reunion airs on June 16 at 9 p.m.
