laDuring season 12 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Marc and Kenya ended their marriage seemingly out of the blue. However, as fans saw when the season played out on TV, the couple was plagued with various issues that just couldn’t seem to work through.
Since wrapping filming for season 12, Kenya and Marc have been working on fixing their marriage and are attempting to make it work. While the two still aren’t officially back on, they are trying to figure out if they will stay together or ultimately split up for good.
Amid that, they are also considering having a second child.
“It’s a conversation that we’re still trying to figure out, honestly,” the RHOA star, 49, told Us Weekly on Wednesday, May 27. “But I really feel, more and more, that I do [want to]. Time is ticking, and I want them to be close in age and … it’s a sensitive subject.”
However, Marc has some hesitations about having another child.
“It’s scary for him too … because Brooklyn’s not his only child, so for him, it’s like, ‘Well, how many children will I have?’ So I think that is probably the biggest issue for him,” she explained. “But I don’t think he thinks he can love anyone more than he loves Brooklyn and his other children right now, so … I don’t know. They have a really strong, strong bond. And I think his fear is that, ‘What if the child comes and I don’t have this kind of bond with him because you didn’t carry her or we’re still figuring out our relationship?’”
Kenya said she’s also “seriously considering” using a surrogate for her second child after suffering from complications during her first pregnancy.
The RHOA star is waiting on test results that will reveal if surrogacy “will be my only option.”
Meanwhile, Marc and Kenya continue to participate in couple’s therapy via Zoom but hopes that soon they can switch to in-person therapy “to really be able to dig a little deeper.”
Kenya has also previously admitted that she still loves Marc and wishes, “things could get back on track.”
When quarantine from the Coronavirus pandemic is over, Kenya says the first thing she wants to do is take her daughter to New York to see Marc.
“I want to fly to New York to see Marc. And for Brooklyn to see Marc,” she said. “We miss him. We really miss him. It breaks my heart when Brooklyn goes around the house and says, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’ picks up his pictures and says ‘Daddy’ and stuff. It’s just heartbreaking.”
Kenya and Marc welcomed Brooklyn in November 2018. Less than a year later, the couple split after two years of marriage. Rumors quickly swirled that Marc engaged in several affairs during their marriage; however, Kenya later said she never found any proof that Marc cheated.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta will return to Bravo for season 13 in late 2020 or early 2021.
