Sutton Stracke The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - RHOBH

Sutton Stracke Explains Why She Was Demoted on RHOBH; Admits ‘It Was a Hard Blow’

Sutton Stracke may be making waves as a friend of Housewives, but she was supposed to have a much more significant role for season 10 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The RHOBH newbie was meant to be a full-time Housewife but somehow along the way producers reduced her role in a significant way.

In August 2019, Bravo announced Sutton and Garcelle Beauvais would be joining RHOBH as full-time Housewives for the much-anticipated tenth season of the franchise. However, when the season 10 intro and taglines dropped in early 2020, Sutton was left without a diamond. This left fans scratching their heads and wondering what caused Sutton’s role on the show to change.

Now, Sutton is opening up about why she was demoted to a friend of the Housewives.

Sutton explains that her demotion had everything to do with her ex-husband, Christian Stacke, not wanting their children on TV.

“My ex-husband just was adamant that they could not film with me, and I totally get it,” Sutton revealed on Kate Casey’s “Reality Life With Kate Casey” podcast on Friday, May 22. “It was hard. It was a hard blow because, you know, it’s exciting to do, and I wanted also viewers to see me with my kids and me at home. And it’s the softer side, I think, of all of us.”

She continued, “When you get to see all of the ladies at home with their kids and their families, it’s kind of like, you know, you don’t… [producers] don’t show that much of it. It’s clearly not that interesting. But it’s the soft underbelly of who these women are. And I’m sorry that we can’t see that this season.”

Sutton and Christian wed in 2000 and share three children – 17-year-old daughter, Porter, and sons Philip, 15, and James, 12. The two finalized their divorce in 2017.

Meanwhile, Sutton also revealed what her season 10 tagline might have been if she had not been demoted.

“Everybody’s asking me that. I’m like, ‘I don’t know.’ I always really liked something like, ‘I might be Southern, but don’t ring my bell,’” Sutton told Us Weekly. “Who knows? Who knows what they would’ve come up with.”

She added: “The diamond is very heavy to hold, but I would love to like be a diamond carrying member, for sure.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
