Some not so charming rumors about Cameran Eubanks’ husband, Jason Wimberly, and their marriage popped up online after the Southern Charm star announced she would not be returning for season 7 of the show.
Soon after Cameran casually revealed on Instagram that she was exiting Southern Charm ahead of season 7, “insidious rumors,” claiming Jason was carrying on a two-year-long affair popped up online.
These rumors and “fake articles” forced Cameran to publicly address her exit from the show, a move she planned to do on her own time.
“I was going to make a kind of statement about why I decided to leave the show tomorrow, but it has come to my attention that insidious rumors are now spreading and fake articles being written… some of which pertain to my marriage,” Cameran wrote in her statement on Instagram.
“While upsetting, it sadly doesn’t surprise me as this is what reality television has come to nowadays and a large reason why I kept my marriage off the air. You must protect what is sacred to you. Some things aren’t worth a big paycheck,” Cameran continued.
She went on to defend her husband and let it be known that she will NOT let his good name be dragged through the mud.
“What upsets me the most is that my husband, who is the most sincere and faithful human I know, is being falsely dragged into this,” Cameran said. “It disgusts me.”
“He always supported me filming the show even though he wanted no part of the spotlight,” she added.
As for the reasoning behind her exit from Southern Charm, Cameran said, “My decision was made and given to Bravo months ago and had absolutely nothing to do with ridiculous and fake rumors about my marriage. Please disregard any fabricated rumor. It’s a ploy for ratings, and that’s it.”
“I can’t get too upset, though, because this is what you sign up for when you put your life on reality TV…and why I’m getting out of it now,” she continued. “Drama is needed to stay relevant on reality television, and sadly false rumors about others are sometimes created. Make of that what you will and consider the source.”
“Now, I absolutely know I was smart to leave the party early,” she said. “My gut has never failed me.”
Cameran has been a full-time cast member on Southern Charm since the show debuted on Bravo in 2014. She previously appeared on MTV’s Real World San Deigo in 2004.
Production for season 7 of Southern Charm has faced several hiccups over the last 6 months or so. The Bravo show was initially slated to begin filming for season 7 in fall 2019, but for an unknown reason, production was halted. Rumors even swirled that Bravo had canceled the popular show.
Filming for season 7 finally started in February of 2020 but was then paused by Bravo in March due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Southern Charm is expected to return to Bravo in late 2020 or early 2021.
