Southern Charm is about to get a little less charming when it returns for season 7.
On Tuesday, Southern Charm OG Cameran Eubanks revealed that she would NOT be returning to the show for another season.
The 36-year-old announced the news in the comments of her most recent Instagram post.
“Missing the show! When are you returning?” a fan asked Cameran.
She replied, “I will not be returning.”
This news comes as quite a shock to fans as Cameran previously made it known that she had every intention of being apart of season 7.
“Season 7 is going to be a very high opening season in terms of; you will see that some people have made some big strides in growth, and some have stayed the same. Sadly,” Cam told Us Weekly at BravoCon in November 2019. “I think the viewers are going to see a huge change in Craig [Conover]. He has matured, he’s really come into his own. I’m very proud of him. He’s a man now.
She even teased the possibility of her husband Jason Wimberly making another appearance on the show.
“We might see more of Jason. Jason was on the last episode [of season 6], it went well,” Cam explained at the time. “Jason’s shy and private, so I think that was kind of a little intro. I think you might see him again now that he’s more comfortable.”
Cameran has been a full-time cast member on Southern Charm since the show debuted on Bravo in 2014. She previously appeared on MTV’s Real World San Deigo in 2004.
Production for season 7 of Southern Charm has faced several hiccups over the last 6 months or so. The Bravo show was originally slated to begin filming for season 7 in fall 2019, but for an unknown reason, production was halted. Rumors even swirled that Bravo had canceled the popular show.
Filming for season 7 finally started in February of 2020 but was then paused by Bravo in March due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s a bummer with this unprecedented situation, but it really felt like we got back to our roots. It’s very organic and transparent,” Craig told Decider in April. “[After] having such a long break, everyone kinda came in full steam ahead, so it was pretty wild and a lot of drama. Everyone basically kept what was going on in their lives, and the cameras showed up and started to catch all the drama that happens in our everyday life. It was really good.”
I have to admit I’m not sure I’ll continue to watch Southern Charm. I initially loved the show and was intrigued to watch mostly because I fondly remember Cam from her Real World days. Oh, the memories. The last season(s) of the show have been meh, and I’m not sure it will get any better without Cam. Only time will tell.
Southern Charm is expected to return to Bravo in late 2020 or early 2021.
