If there’s anything we know about the ‘Real Housewives,’ there’s usually just as much drama off-screen as on, and RHONY is no exception.
Bethenny Frankel famously left the franchise without notifying her costars, then dissed the ratings claiming the show wasn’t inspiring. Many felt the B shouldn’t be dissing the show that made her famous, especially since she left on her own terms; however new reports hint that Bethenny had a bone to pick.
According to PageSix, B was reportedly “horrified by the idea that “The Real Housewives of New York” will be just fine without her” and “threw a fit after a top producer said the cast “don’t need her. ” Sources state that “She’s jealous [because] she’s not on still. She made a rash decision [to leave] and she misses the limelight of it all.”
To make matters worse, a longtime producer of the show, Barrie Bernstein, recently claimed a panel that the cast doesn’t need Bethenny. When asked how the show would go on without her, Bernstein stated that “Bethenny, of course, is Bethenny. We did three seasons without her in the middle, it was successful, a lot of fun, some of the best trips. And the ladies, they’ve done this for a while, and they don’t need Bethenny. I think this season we’re really excited to shine that.” Yikes – talk about an unfriendly send-off!
The source added that “Bethenny got wind of it, got very angry and blocked [Bernstein] from her phone.”
If this is true, both parties seem petty. No need from the producer to diss one of the show’s biggest stars as Bethenny helped make RHONY what it is today. Regarding Bethenny, the show made her famous and helped built her very successful brand, so no need to make petty remarks about ratings. It seems both sides need to cut themselves a slice of humble pie.
RHONY airs Thursday nights on Bravo
