RHOC: Heather and Terry Dubrow Defend Selling Over-Priced Hand Sanitizer During Pandemic

Heather and Terry Dubrow are in a sticky situation after getting called out for selling over-priced hand sanitizer during the current pandemic.

Heather and Terry appeared on ShopHQ to shill their own-branded hand sanitizer on TV. The going price?  $28.95 for 6 ounces.

And it turns out none of the proceeds from the products are going to charity and instead the profits will be lining the Dubrow’s already well-stocked bank account.

The couple reportedly sold a HUGE amount of their hand sanitizer as it’s currently a hot commodity in the US.

Yet the price tag associated with their hand sanitizer has caused an uproar on social media.

“You and your husband are PRICE GOUGING. You are selling [6 ounces] of hand sanitizer for $28.95. You and your hubby get to [stay in a] $21?million home, while you take advantage of people’s fear. Shame,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another wrote, “More about the Benjamins than helping Americans.”

However, the former Real Housewives of Orange County stars are defending their actions and have no intention of backing down or apologizing.

Heather tells Page Six that $35,000 has already been donated to California’s Second Harvest Food Bank. It’s unsure if Terry and Heather donated their own money or the money from the sale of their hand sanitizer.

She explained: “We’ve already donated thousands … to people working on the front line of this pandemic. And we’re giving a portion of the proceeds of our sanitizer to food banks — there are kids who are not getting anything to eat — and to health-care professionals.”

Terry, on the other hand, insists that their hand sanitizer has been developed for “persistence,” and says, “it’s the same technology we used in the room where we prep patients.”

The Botched star also says the ingredients in their sanitizer are expensive and nearly “impossible to find” during the pandemic.

Pointing out that that the price is “three times the normal cost … We’ve scorched the Earth looking for them.”

Heather adds, “As a mom of four, I’m looking at when we re-emerge, and the kids go to school or camp. I wanted to build a product that helps people in a new wave of normalcy.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County is expected to return to Bravo for season 15 in mid-to-late 2020.

Thoughts on this all? Do you think Terry and Heather’s actions are justifiable?
