Simon, who is battling stage 3 throat cancer, is at a higher risk of contracting the deadly virus.
“I am worried about Simon. As you all know, last month he went public with his cancer diagnosis,” Tamra told Us Weekly. “Having a disease that compromises his immune system means that this could be lethal for him.”
“He is doing everything he can to protect himself, as is his fiancée, Catushia. She is his sole caregiver and now has to be extremely cautious as well,” she continued. “Due to the fact that he is immune-compromised, the kids also can’t be around him, which is heartbreaking for them and for him as well.”
“As their mother, this is very, very hard to watch and our family is simply having a very tough time,” Tamra added.
The former Real Housewives of Orange County star goes on to say, “This is an extremely sad time for the world. I am praying for a cure and for us all to get through this.”
Back in February, Simon publicly announced his cancer diagnosis in a statement to PEOPLE.
Simon said, “I’m a private person, despite what my time on reality television might say. But I wanted to speak before someone else does and uses their words, not mine. And to speak out about it so others can see how I’ve taken this fight on with optimism, and the good this has ultimately brought my life.”
“I think everything happens for a reason, I think your destiny is pretty much set for you, and you’re here to learn lessons,” he added. “This has been a tough lesson for me. And I’m hoping it can be a lesson for others, too.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County are expected to return to Bravo for season 15 in mid-to-late 2020.
